Yet Newsome keeps approving PG&E rate hikes for record shareholder profits. We need publicly held utilities and healthcare California should be leading the way but we’re stuck with this corrupt pro corporate neoliberal clown governor. He now has a podcast where he talks to Nazis.
With all the solar Cali should have co-op utilities. Have them run fiber too and we can have community ISPs.
He also approved NEM 3.0 which heavily discourages installing residential solar systems because residents were competing with electric companies, bringing their demand and prices down. PG&E WANTS you to use your electricity as muchbas possible so that they can have more money to continue building and continue raking in profits.
no shit son
And I bet this is below the national average. Wealthiest country on Earth people. We rock.
Might be about time for some change in CA?
are republicans promising to abolish landlords now?
Keep voting for the same people that your state has had in charge for 30 years, that's definitely going to fix the problems that have been getting worse and worse.
Huh no answer to his question. Funny that...
Ok so you missed the point.
Democrats have been in charge for 30+ years. They've been in charge and helped create these problems. Do you think they will fix them?
Republicans didn't get CA into this mess, Democrats did.
What a moronic, trolling response. These problems aren't unique to California nor any other state. It's a national issue. If Republicans are the "poverty saviors" like you claim, then why are all the poorest states red states? CA has the 5th largest economy in the world FFS.
I see you're the same "FreedomAdvocate" from that other post where you were arguing that it's imperative that the government lock citizens away in a mental institution without any sort of due process. So much for "freedom," eh? That really highlights what you're really all about, which is spreading right-wing propaganda and disinformation.
20 years, oh well you showed me. They’re definitely the ones to blame for the current situation. Better keep voting for the current lot, they’ll fix it this time im sure.
You're the one who missed the point.
Landlords and the system that treats housing as a profitable investment is the cause of high costs of living. This happens everywhere in the US. Cities where people want to live in the reddest of the red states have the exact same cost of living problems. Its a fundamental problem that is inherent to for-profit real estate.
Neither party wants to dismantle that system. Your solution is not a solution. High cost of living cannot be solved by switching to the other current political party.
Landlords and the system that treats housing as a profitable investment is the cause of high costs of living.
And who is in control of, and has been for most of the last 30 years, that system?
High cost of living cannot be solved by switching to the other current political party.
And it definitely won't be solved by continuing to elect the same people who are making it worse. You don't get change by doing the same thing over and over. By continually voting for them in spite of it getting continually worse, you're telling them you're ok with it.
And who is in control of, and has been for most of the last 30 years, that system?
the two party duopoly
And it definitely won't be solved by continuing to elect the same people who are making it worse.
the other people you propose support the exact same policies that make it worse.
Your solution continues to not be a solution.
Yeah the best solution is to definitely just keep voting for the same people who have been in charge for decades and have overseen it get worse and worse. No other options at all.
there are ways to influence governments beyond your vote.
Not really doing too well there either, are you?
I'm doing fine how are you?
Still didn't answer the question I see.
You not being able to understand that the question was answered doesn’t mean it wasn’t answered.
I'm so confused. Do you think just because they keep going for democratic president candidates that Democrats are the problem?
I'd be more interested in seeing the governors list.
But setting that aside, the COL should be shown alongside the average income because just COL is disengious and doesn't show the whole picture.
High cost of living is also largely influenced by people's desire to live there. It's very likely that the Democrats are the fucking reason people WANT to be there.
Republicans might lower cost of living but only because everyone starts to fucking leave.
It’s very likely that the Democrats are the fucking reason people WANT to be there.
More Americans left California between 2023 and 2024 than any other state across the country, according to new data released by the Census Bureau.
The Golden State lost a total of 239,575 residents to other states, the largest net domestic migration loss in the country over the past year. New York, another blue bastion in the country, saw the second-highest loss, losing a total of 120,917 residents between 2023 and 2024.
Guess where they moved to on average?
unless your living in a rural area where its LCOL, thinking republicans will change, they wont they will make renting worst. nimbyism and zoning laws are the main issues in cali.
The point is that Democrats have been in charge for 30+ years, and things have been going downhill consistently rather than getting better, so what other option do you have? Just keep voting for the guys who have been in charge while cost of living spiraled and the housing market went insane and homelessness skyrocketed etc? What good is that doing?
You have no idea what you're talking about.
We gave the gov't 80+ billion dollars in taxes. Texas took 70 billion from the gov't.
Cool, you paid tax…..?
What has any Southern California Republican done or proposed to lower the cost of living? Southern California has the best and most desirable climate in the entire world. The cost of living there reflects that. The only other places with a similar climate are hard core Muslim theocracies (see Casablanca).
Oh so there isn’t a cost of living crisis, it’s just that only rich people are allowed to live there because of the nice climate?
WOW lol
Also lol at most desirable climate in the world. Let me guess - you live there?
I live here. Shit's better here than any red state I've lived in that's for fucking sure.
Do you live here? Or are you just another conservative who shits on my state without having ever stepped foot in this place.
We’re in an article about a cost of living crisis in CA ffs lol. You’re saying there ISNT a cost of living crisis in CA.
I live in LA. You can find apartments here for cheap if you look.
The whole reason southern California and the Bay Area are both expensive, is because they are some of the most desirable places to live in the entire country.
Simple as that.
So you disagree with the article that we're in the comments section of? There is no cost of living crisis in CA?
Still waiting to hear what southern CA republicans have done for the housing crisis. Rather than answer my principal question, you asked another question. Unacceptable.
What have southern CA democrats done for the housing crisis?
Created it. Let it get out of control. Take no responsibility for it. Do nothing to try and fix it.
Don’t ask what republicans might do, ask what democrats have already done.
Still not an answer
Allowed =/= capability
Yes, no fucking shit. This is known. Until something is done it'd be great not to be constantly reminded. This shit needs to be brought to action by our gov and elected officials, which won't happen with the current shit administration.
