Representatives from European countries including France, Britain, Germany and Italy are joining envoys from Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Morocco, the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

Norway, Iceland, Ireland and Slovenia, who like Spain have already recognised a Palestinian state, are also taking part, alongside Brazil.

The Arab nations are a joke, pandering to whoever sells them weapons they don't know how to use (looking at you Gulf states). I'm writing this as a Lebanese who's sick of this non stop genocide. Strongly worded letters don't work, and now there's insanity in America, I can't see anything changes unless Europe somehow decide to sanction Israel on their own and hope other countries follow suit.

Hrm yes, but have you considered: Money???? /s

Arab nations are absolutely depraved. I question myself because of how other arabs somehow like our leaders (who are just submissive puppets to other rich countries) but the gulf states are by far the worst. Absolute monarchies with the "Fuck you, i got mine" completely selling out their own people for money; they're complete shitholes.

But yeah: hopes and prayers to gaza, they'll use the money they made profiting off the genocide to wipe their crocodile tears.

I really, really hope something changes for the better in the future.

what will germany do? Call every human rights activist an anti-semite?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Or maybe bust in their doors in the middle of the night and arrest them?

The UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories Francesca Albanese had multiple panel events in Germany cancelled or kicked out of their locations by the pressure of the German government. She also reports threats of her being arrested made by the police against the event organizers.

Don't they already? Israel and the US sure do..

I hope not. For the first time in years, the discourse around Israel has shifted. Like, 2 weeks ago, Members of the CDU got grilled on their attitude towards Israel and its renewed attacks at prime time on national television. This is unprecedented. I really think there is a shift in public discourse on Gaza.

Obligatory fuck the Staatsräson.

What a coincidence. Right around the time of the PTB posts regarding feddit.org

I had to do a quick double-take to verify this post is not on the nazi instance.

You surely get easily fooled by hypocritical politicians.

I do not see the connection between "The discourse has changed" and "you get fooled by hypocritical politicians".

For the first time in ages, media outlets are openly questioning our stance on Israel. Talks of cutting off the weapons supply are fucking happening.

Why don't the arab countries allow more refugees, it's wild to me when so many lives are being lost... who cares about the geopolitics, let's save some lives, it's so sad the Palestinian people have enemies on both sides of them.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 days ago

Palestinians want to live in Palestine. They don't want to be refugees.

But even if they wanted to leave, they can't. Not because of the Arab Nations not taking them in (barring what the other commenter has mentioned of them being poor). Israel is controlling the borders and checkpoints and they do not let anyone leave.

Jordan for example already have 2 millions paleatinian refugees. Arab countries economies are weak and can't handle hundred thousands of refugees that will never be allowed to return to gaza after the war by Israel
