Whether it be electronics, automobiles or medical equipment, the manufacturers should not be able to horde “oem” parts, render your stuff useless if you repair it with aftermarket parts, or hide schematics of their products.

Honestly, I can barely believe it's actually real. There's gotta be some catch that actually makes it much worse or, at best, nothing at all.

Similar to our labor laws regarding lunch and breaks. IF a company offers breaks, if they're less than 20min, they must be paid breaks. Heavy on the IF as companies are not required to have them.
