As a result, I am beginning movements to transfer the television community to piefed, and I've put in a community request to take over the lemmy.world television instance. In the nearly three months since I made this, I've managed to cause the community to become the most active community on the instance. Since then, I did have my eye on Piefeds development and was interested in its features and did consider long-term the prospect of moving across.

Now that Lemm.ee is going to shut down, I guess my hand has been forced.

proper link to the new community: [email protected]

I think PieFed does not give you the backfill of recent posts when you subscribe, so it will appear empty at first

is this an instance thing, so like if it appears empty to me, that means there has not been any new posts since someone on the instance I'm on subscribed?

Something similar.

If you don’t see new posts. It means no one on your instance is subscribed to that community yet, so it hasn’t federated to your instance.

(You by subscribing will make it federate) :)

So since I’m on same instance as you and you already subscribed, I can see all the posts without needing to subscribe. So thanks :)

I don't know. But I'm going to also relocate to lemmy.world if possible, and the likelihood is that will be much more active.

yes you're correct

I've also amended the post to note I'm also making a request for the lemmy.world television community since piefed is still in development and quite different to lemmy. If you look at how Piefed works, it integrates with other communities with the same name - so it is possible to do both.

What a bummer, and we were doing so well here.

Piefed is okay, ~~but apparently that link is not compatible with Lemmy clients like Voyager.~~

Any suggestions?

edit: use [email protected]

I'm also going to put in a request for [email protected] as I'm aware of this.

why not to lemmy.zip? its medium size and doesnt have a television community there, also dbzero could also be a good pick

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Because lemmy.zip has geoblocked the UK over the Online Safety Act lmao

I am British

My condolences.

Why put in a request?

I was originally a mod there, and then it redirected to here later… so shouldn’t someone here still have it?

It works on my voyager mobile client ios.

The properly formatted link [email protected] that @[email protected] posted was what I needed.
