Okay I am starting to realize how small and cozy the fediverse actually is

…I mean, I do hate her, but that’s not why I go to work each day.

This is copied from [email protected] - which is a delightfilled community. Here's how the game is played:

This is not about actual vacations to Disneyland or Disneyworld.

It's for weird, terrible, terrifying or bad illustrations from WikiHow.

  1. Find a weird/terrifying/hilariously bad picture from WikiHow

  2. Post it here with an original and funny caption

  3. Link to the WikiHow source article in the comments

Rules:

  1. All posts must be unmodified 'full' (non-mobile) WikiHow images or videos. They should be strange, terrifying or just plain awful.

  2. All posts must provide the source WikiHow article as a link in the comments. This should be done as either a plain link, or the link text should be the name of the article.

  3. Don't be a dick.

  4. No recent reposts.

Edit: corrected link to include ! instead of @

That's great but the @ symbol.seems to be for users, not communities

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

ah, cool. I'm not clear on the syntax. How should it be done, correctly?

FWIW, when I click on the link above it takes me to "https://fedia.io/m/[email protected]"

I'm open for suggestions.

Already looking into it! I think Sync is expecting the ! symbol, let's test it out:

[email protected]

Edit: that works for me!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Hunh, that's interesting they both resolve to the address above. But is that because we are both in fedia.io? And are you therefore saying that it wouldn't resolve correctly if we, and or Disney Vacation were in different instances? I'm still trying to understand this so I can use it and teach it to others. Thanks!!

Long story short, the "!" version will take the person clicking the link to their home instance's version of that community, keeping them logged in and able to subscribe/interact. It's much nicer to deal with sharing communities that way.

It probably has to do with whichever app or site you're using to browse. I believe the accepted syntax is to use the ! prefix to denote a community, so I'd expect that to have wider support.

Would you still go to work if she turned into a worm?
