Community Squatter (lemmy.world)

The user mandlar has made a bunch of communities, but appears to have no intention of using them. Specifically it would be nice if someone who is still active could be made owner of the battlestations community.

I don't think they should be punished or anything. Just perhaps most of these communities be purged or assigned an active mod / owner.

I don't particularly want to volunteer, but would if nobody else was interested.

@antik@lemmy.world

You still on the list of folks we can tag for squatters? There's another post in !general@lemmy.world about a user squatting on dozens more cmmunities.

Thx!

Yes well as long as they follow the moderation rules there is no limit to the amount of communities one can "own". Because people would otherwise just create alts.

If you want to take over a community - contact the current owner first. Afaik @sabbah@lemmy.world is no longer interested in being a moderator on some communities. Could be on all. Please pick it up with him first, I'm sure he'll reply.

I'll be happy to add any one interested in modding any community I mod. In fact I posted 'mod wanted' in many of them and added all those who showed interest. So, be my guest and PM me if you like.

There seems to be a number of instances where people have set up or been added to quite a large number of unrelated communities - perhaps to just get as many under their belt as possible for whatever reason. Power mods seemingly becoming a thing on this instance.

Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using an URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !battlestations@lemmy.world

Wow a bot without the bot mark

[โ€“] antik@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

He has the mark?

Edit: I see it's an old post, maybe changed recently

[โ€“] Rooki@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Yeah he has it now.

Looks to me like quite a few of those are active.
