I tried playing the System shock remake but I get Lost a lot. They sure didn’t update any sort of navigation or quest markers
Cyberpunk
What is Cyberpunk?
Cyberpunk is a science-fiction sub-genre dealing with the integration of society and technology in dystopian settings. Often referred to as “low-life and high tech,” Cyberpunk stories deal with outsiders (punks) who fight against the oppressors in society (usually mega corporations that control everything) via technological means (cyber). If the punks aren’t actively fighting against a megacorp, they’re still dealing with living in a world completely dependent on high technology.
Cyberpunk characteristics include:
- Dystopian city setting where mega-corporations rule
- Full integration of technology into society, featuring cybernetic implants
- Outsider protagonists (punks) who often are very familiar with the technology around them
- Hard boiled detective and film noir vibes and influence
- Themes dabbling in trans-humanism, existentialism, and what it means to be human.

While I can appreciate wanting to stay true to the original, I wish this game was more of an upgrade. Something like the 2023 Dead Space remake. That game did a phenomenal job of taking the original's ideas and improving on them in every way.
It's a remaster, not a remake, so yeah... It doesn't really look that much different or better than what I already mod the OG game to be so I would probably pass on this unless it has some new features, like maybe expanded co-op or something.
Edit: It does have cross-play co-op and is released on most major consoles so I guess that's kinda expanding it? 🤷♂️ I meant like 3 to 4 people instead of just 2, tho.
In another article or trailer it was explicitly stated that they worked with the community mod makers to package in all the "must have" texture and model mods. So it should look like what you previously could mod it into, lol.
Looks like it does support 4 player co-op, at least according to the PC Gaming Wiki. I'll have to convince my friends to try it sometime. I love SS2 but never tried it in co-op.
Oooh okay then. Now we're talking! 😃
Aww yes!
The game that led to the creation of Bioshock. 🥰
Remaster != Remake. Remaster is like a recutting of the vinyl from the original master recording. Remake is closer to rerecording the master altogether, possibly with a new interpretation.
Remaster usually involve upgrading the graphics and models while translating the engine. Radical changes are usually left to the remake, which are also more expensive.
