Everything is politics, especially these days. You cannot even say, "genocide is bad" without some fuckwit calling you an antisemite.

The only thing worse than politics are those who refuse to take a stand.

People get triggered when you say "we should be kind to each other" and will call you a woke, liberal snowflake. Those are also the same people who will screech about "making everything political" wherever they get any blowback. So yeah, everything is political and always has been.

The EU project wasn't political until people started virtue signaling

A Flag is political, the act of defacing/removing a flag is political, the EU is political. EVERYTHING IS POLITICAL

If the politics are bad, why bother to take a stand?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

If you "don't take a stand", than you automatically support the politics that are in power and rising right now.

Complacency back then caused Gestapo pulling away Jews. Complacency now causes US-Gestapo to pull away anyone they effing want.

That's why you take a stand.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 day ago

Because otherwise they’ll keep getting worse.

Read Combat Liberalism. To hear reactionary comments and to stand by without challenging them is a type of Liberalism that must be abolished

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Cause if you don't, it only gets worse, not better?

Was that a real question? rofl

I'm now curious, as someone who hasn't participated in any of the chats, what's going on?

There was a... discussion whether Hungarian flag deserves to be near EU flag.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

As one of the parties involved, Here is my attempt at a writeup:

I wrote it as a reply for here but ended up posting it standalone.

If the room temperature IQ'ers had simply put a different European flag over it we wouldn't have cared but they didn't

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

there was an agreed upon compromise lol, one guy had to come and argue it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Agreed upon is a stretch it was lets make sure it doesn't look completely stupid. The children weren't going to let up.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

uhh, you were the only one who couldn’t let it go mate

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Another reason the weird nationlism these things always devolve into is such a nuisance.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

it turned into politics

Lemmy gonna Lemmy

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Every event like this devolves into nationalistic pixel-wars. All the possibilities in the world, and people just want to force their flag in over everything else -_-

!I think everyone on here has good intentions. But many are proactive about it to a extent where they feel a duty to ostracize anyone who doesn't. And they immediately start suspecting anyone who hasn't settled on their systemic solution of choice of having said bad intentions. ("If crypto-anarcho-eco-mercerism is the obvious way to stop all the bad things, why would someone advocate for anything else than because they don't want to stop those bad things?") I think you could have a server where 100% of people had good intentions, and they'd still end up accusing each other of dog-whistling and whatnot. Like, you don't need to ensure you share the same value system just so you can discuss a funny cat video.!<

Edit: perhaps this is the effect that continuously encountering trolls has on your brain

It was stupid and ruined the whole mural because they wanted to joke around they couldn't remove the country from the politics which were the way they were due to 50 years under Russian rule.

A sincere fuck you to everyone who participated in that nonsense of desiccating the flag and for demanding your stupid little garden was kept on the Scottish flag
