Proportional representation, constitution, proper separation of powers. Let's start with these.

Of course they admit it, they didn't win. As soon as they're in power again the electoral system will be OK

That's why no one should trust anything that Reform say about electoral reform. They only want it because there's zero chance they'll get into power otherwise no matter what the polls say.

Yeah, politics are pretty universal. Tell me if you've heard this one: Holding a position of power in the government. Doing whatever they can to cause problems while in that position. Using that as proof of how that very government doesn't work and is ineffective.

Or

Being corrupt, but accusing someone else of corrupt.

A few Tory ex-MPs criticising FPTP does not mean the actual Conservative party backs PR.

That said, I think we should back PR.

The conservative party themselves won't back any kind of progressive policy as long as bad Enoch is in charge. Right now their only official position is something vague about immigration but they don't even have a concrete policy on that.

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
