Bad metaphor. Unlike corporations, trans people are valid.

Okay, I don't know if you didn't know that, but the building in the picture is originally from a transphobic post:

Reminds me of a Taco Bell building that turned into a really good independent taco place. Retained the distinct building shape, but the food was astronomically better and the service was friendlier.

Feels that fits the message just as well, lol

The best Chinese place in my area for a long time was in an old taco bell.

To be fair we called it China Bell. (It was actually called Chef Ma's)

they serve meat (hot and cold cut sandwiches). the whole gimmick is that they sold everything but burgers, but now they sell burgers

[–] DrPop@lemmy.one 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yes made with real 100% "Wagyu" beef. It's not bad. But when I'm at Arby's I want hot ham and cheese which isn't even on the menu anymore. $ menu was life.

[–] jzzvid@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 years ago (2 children)

They don't even have the 5 for $5 anymore either. You could get a milkshake, fries, and three roast beef and cheese sandwichs for $5.

[–] Aesthesiaphilia@kbin.social 4 points 2 years ago

I remember when it went up to $5.55 and I realized that was the beginning of the end

[–] LeylaaLovee@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 years ago

It's exclusive to the mobile app, it's still around though

[–] jayrodtheoldbod@midwest.social 9 points 2 years ago

I'm so happy that the person who made this didn't actually know what an Arby's is at all. Have an Arbytrary day

Christ this is cringe. Can we fight for rights without terrible poorly done memes? 🤦‍♂️

[–] Cortell@lemmy.world 32 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Imagine going to a community dedicated to shitty memes and complaining about shitty memes

[–] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 2 years ago

but it's only the best high quality shitty memes

[–] LeylaaLovee@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 2 years ago

This isn't your community

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 4 points 2 years ago

I'll fight for the right to make terrible poorly done memes any day.

[–] solarknight@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

^This. Absolute straw man and i’m not even a conservative. Fight for rights without ostracizing people you don’t agree with.

[–] Sombyr@lemmy.one 19 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Maybe I don't understand the definition of straw man properly, but I don't think this is one. It's a response to a metaphor some conservatives have used against trans people that the look of a pizza hut is so iconic, that it'd be rediculous to call it anything else, because it's obviously a pizza hut, no matter what you put inside it. This is a response to that, showing that insisting it's still a pizza hut just because it looks like one to you is absurd. I agree it's a little bit cringy. There's been better rebuttals to it, but I think this still makes the point.

I don't think this was ever a popular conservative argument though. I've only seen it in screenshots of a single highly retweeted tweet with various rebuttals attached. I guess it seems more like just a random dumb argument people decided was fun to make fun of.

[–] solarknight@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

The pizza hut/arbys is clearly a metaphor for trans people, but I have never seen a real, conservative flip the fuck out just because someone used the person's preferred pronouns. Most people are really moderate in reality. A strawman is when a group creates personified stereotype that they can pin their problems on to have something to be angry about.

That said.

TRANS RIGHTS

[–] feedum_sneedson@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Looks like a Pizza Hut.

[–] HubertManne@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago

omd! I want hot dog crust now.

[–] Jackcooper@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 years ago

The Arby's card was incredible. Though honestly a shell gas card really isn't much better.
