While out walking, yeah I'd agree. While out in the yard doing yard work, though, I would argue its perfectly acceptable to shape any yard trimmings into good sticks if the stock is sound.

It's a nice stick, but I can't get behind it unless I hear a nice whoosh sound when you swing it.
