If a moderator is not active or banned, you can request to be a mod for that community. Just check community rules before posting.

I decided not to remove the old mod. What do you think about it? I believe I shouldn't do this, but I would still like to hear your opinion. Is it unfair to remove that mod if inactive for a week?

Also; @Solaire@lemmynsfw.com is banned and s/he has so many communities. I can appoint if there are some volunteers.

note: bottomless and lesbians communities are reserved for now.

One of the biggest issues that happened on Reddit was various folks trying to build fiefdoms and squatting on community/subreddit names without any real interest(s) in building up and nurturing the comms.
Glad you/admins here seem to be aware of this potential issue and are taking active action.

I’m trying to escape from responsibility as much as I can lol :) But that’s good point too.

We are currently on a whole new platform and people want to contribute to it. I don't want to discourage anyone as much as possible.

Totally understand the need for flexibilty while building this platform up. It took a group of us mods on Reddit over 2+ years to finally get admins to pay some attention to these squatters (one guy had over 1000+ subreddits at one point, and was using an automated script to create subs every 5 minutes... as well as alt accounts that do the same...

I’m afraid of that too. But we are not on Reddit scale and only NSFW oriented. So I think we can handle these kind of spams hopefully.

Commenting in here to help where I can. I was going to create these communities if they weren't anyway, so you can mod me on:

So far modding hasn't been too difficult because the post count is low. If I find it becomes difficult, I'll appoint new mods to these communities.

Edit: I also wanted to add a thank you for posting this. I asked about this specific situation and didn't get a response. Thanks. :)

Ok, I’ll transfer soon. Thanks for volunteering.

[–] yay 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Looks like you should create a post/comment on those communities to be appointed. Can you do it?

k now did it

[–] HornyButPolite 1 points 2 years ago

Okay all of these communities have images and rules now.

[–] snowportal 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I created a community but then deleted it. I've been unable to remake it since.

[–] yay 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I may help you with that. Which community is it?

[–] snowportal 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It was ebonygirls I ended up recreating it as ebony_girls.

[–] yay 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

It's better IMO. Also the original community is still there.

[–] snowportal 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Oh that interesting. I didn't see it in the search but does work with direct address.

[–] yay 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Can you select both Undetermined and English on your user settings? It probably this stupid problem again.

[–] snowportal 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I think I had both selected already. And while I can see the original community with direct address browser address bar it does say "deleted by creator". Although I think it gives me the option to restore if I'm signed in. Since I'm already doing the new one I don't want to have yet another abandoned community on here.

[–] yay 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I can purge one of them if you want?

[–] snowportal 1 points 2 years ago

I guess the original 'ebonygirls'. I'll just keep the new one 'ebony_girls'.

[–] SecretLemmyUser_ 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I can mod teens if needed

[–] Spacebar@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Sending an email to info@lemmy.world creates a ticket.

Then there is also a community to request take take over a community: https://lemmy.world/c/community_requests@lemmy.ml

Can you post/comment on those communities?

[–] securitas 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] yay 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Transfered upskirt. But others still have an admin. You can ask him for it.

[–] securitas 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That user hasn't logged in in 9 days. Thought this post was actually prompted by the discussion about that

[–] yay 1 points 2 years ago

Looks like not inactive

[–] SickIcarus 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Is there a way to request communities to be created/moderated? There’s a few I’d like to see lol, but I don’t want to moderate, or squat.

[–] float@burggit.moe 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

hmmm seems head mod can't leave modship after creating a community, sad!

[–] yay 1 points 2 years ago

I don’t know moderator side but admins can do it
