Important to know: Jerboa latest version (from f-droid for example) will not work with servers running anything older then version 18.

So maybe not upgrade just yet until your instance is on version 18.

My instance is on 18, but I still had issues (fdroid was pushing .33 & .34). I had to grab the. 35 apk from GitHub, and I'm a bit confused about why.

I'm not sure if this is helpful for others (as presumably, fdroid won't upgrade it natively when .36 comes out?)

that was fast as fuck

Top 12,6,1 hour is super helpful.

Does it solve the issue of some information not being federated properly? Display name updates, profile description, edited posts/comments, and deletions are out of sync in many instances, resulting in wildly different versions throught the fediverse. These things trigger my OCD so much, I hope this updates fixes that.

Lets hope that federation gets a backfill/resync mode, too so first subscriber doesnt get a empty magazine/community.

We made it!

That was fast! Layout seems to have changed a little bit, but in mostly subtle ways.

But now I can't seem to upload an icon to my /c/books community, I get a JSON error. Should I try deleting site data from my browser and refreshing?

Specific error message:

SyntaxError: Unexpected token '<', " <h"... is not valid JSON

Similar errors when I attempt to update the sidebar.

did they manage to get captcha in?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 years ago (1 children)

afaik, captcha is removed in favor of email verification

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I believe another captcha implementation will be included in 18.1

might turn off registration until then. bots can answer emails.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

But they often don't. I'm still in favor of adding captcha, but the bots we're seeing are choosing instances without email requirement because it's easier (and sending an email every millisecond is a good way for the instance to be banned by whatever mail provider it's going to, making it so that you can't complete account creation)

i've also been a fan of low bar initial logins then ramping the user into higher forms of auth as they engage with a platform more.

That was a quick update, Thank you!

Good job!
Also just realized 2FA works, which is nice.
