Well, the "pro" is a 6.1 inch screen, which is the size of the previous "a" series, which was the small size. So it kind of does. And the pixel base model has a 6.03, which is pretty small by today's standards.
The a series is really not small. I've had them for years

And I was almost excited for half a second there…
I had a Nexus 7 back in the day. It's a little funny to think that a device with. 6.7inch display, 3/10ths of an inch smaller isn't considered to be in the tablet category as well.
