MODERATORS
This. Making a LFS distro requires a lot of the same knowledge and skills anyway. You can always go over to osdev.org and read up on how to make fully custom kernel but it's not easy. This is only worthwhile if you're trying to teach yourself low level programming or you're for some reason working with computers that aren't quite good enough to run a Linux kernel but you need something better than ms dos.
