Guys, we're going in the wrong direction here.

Thank Republicans and Trump giving people permission to be their worst selves.

People aren't embarrassed to be racist anymore- really think we should bring that back

Until the ADL gets rid of their pro-genocide leadership and spokespeople, I can't take any of their reports seriously. Its a shame, since this particular report seems to be more concerned with anti-Trans and neo-Nazi propaganda which is indeed a real problem, and their research here would otherwise probably be very useful. They have really damaged their own reputation this past half year by equating support of Palestinian victims of genocide with antisemitism.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poisoning_the_well

Poisoning the well (or attempting to poison the well) is a type of informal fallacy where adverse information about a target is preemptively presented to an audience, with the intention of discrediting or ridiculing something that the target person is about to say.

Poisoning the well

Yeah, that seems to be the M.O. of the Anti-Defamation League with regard to anti-zionism: poison the well against anyone who might feel empathy with the Palestinian people before they have a chance to speak, by equating them with antisemitism and Nazis.

Ironically, the Palestinian people are technically Semitic people also, but their wells are being literally poisoned by white Phosphorus bombs "made with [white] pride in the USA," and dropped by different Semitic people who have the privilege to do that.

This is why white supremacy is so evil, it is so arbitrary. Who gets counted as "white" and that dividing line between enjoying privilege and being a victim of mass murder changes from day to day, and place to place. Zionism just happens to include Jews in that definition of white (while also excluding Palestinians), where as antisimitism excludes Jews, but both are white supremacy.

This article, as you said, is about anti trans and neo Nazi propaganda. Why are you trying to distract from that?

Why are you trying to distract from that?

I am not trying to distract from that, I thought I made myself clear:

this particular report seems to be more concerned with anti-Trans and neo-Nazi propaganda which is indeed a real problem, and their research here would otherwise probably be very useful

But if Jonathan Greenblatt of the ADL is defending the genocide of Palestinians, that is some pretty important context. If there happens anything in the report about pro-Palestine protests being equated with neo-Nazis, you need to take those parts with an extra few grains of salt.

To which I indicated that you were poisoning the well. If you have another reliable source that confirms or refutes the information in the article, that would be useful to the conversation.

[–] EndlessApollo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Wild how zionists will just project all the shit their country does onto people who oppose them. The ADL is made to poison the well on antisemitism, you're being wilfully ignorant of that bc hurting the feelings of some Israelis is a bigger tragedy to you than them murdering thousands of Palestinians.

"If you have another reliable source that confirms or refutes the information in the article, that would be useful to the conversation." how about you get one? One that isn't run by a state intent on labeling all opposition to genocide as antisemitic?

[–] EndlessApollo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

White supremacist propaganda = solidarity with Palestine. ADL is an Israeli propaganda mill that labels opposition of Israeli apartheid antisemitic. If there really was a spike in white supremacist rhetoric, you should share from a source that isn't manufacturing consent for genocide

[–] Jimmyeatsausage@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

They're actually reporting a much higher increase in anti-LGBTQ activities (141%) that antisemitism (30%), so I'm not convinced that's the whole story here.

I agree that some of their 'antisemitism' was tied to support for the Palestinian people...but I also think it's true white supremacist ideology (including christofascism) is on the rise even after accounting for their anti-palestinian bias.

To back up the other user, who obviously read the article

White supremacists sharply focused their hate on the LGBTQ+ community in 2023. More than 20 percent of white supremacist events included some element of anti-LGBTQ+ hate. On at least 39 occasions, white supremacists demonstrated outside LGBTQ+ event venues, including drag shows and Pride festivals. A range of white supremacist groups and networks participated in these demonstrations including individuals associated with Active Club Networks, Aryan Freedom Network, Blood Tribe, Nationalist Social Club, Patriot Front and WLM.

Approximately 18 percent of 2023’s white supremacist events included at least one element of antisemitic harassment, from chants and written propaganda/signage to Hitler salutes, swastika flags and demonstrations targeting Jewish institutions.

Examples of events targeting Jewish Institutions:

Orlando, Florida, February 2023: Fifteen individuals associated with GDL held antisemitic banners and shouted obscenities at pedestrians and passing cars during a demonstration in front of the Chabad of South Orlando.

East Cobb and Macon, Georgia, June 2023: Approximately 11 individuals associated with GDL waved swastika flags and held antisemitic signs outside Jewish institutions in Georgia.

Toledo, Ohio, July 2023: At least 20 individuals associated with Blood Tribe demonstrated outside of the Toledo, Ohio Jewish Community Campus with tiki torches and swastika flags.

Missoula, Montana, October 2023: Approximately two dozen people associated with Vinland Rebels, White Lives Matter and the Active Club Network demonstrated in front of Congregation Har Shalom. The group displayed signs that read “Diversity = White Genocide” and “Refugees not welcome.”

Madison, Wisconsin, November 2023: During a march through downtown Madison, 20 individuals associated with Blood Tribe stopped in front of the Gates of Heaven synagogue. During the march the group shouted racial epithets as passersby and chanted “Israel is not our friend” and “There will be blood.”

Dallas, Texas, November 2023: Several individuals associated with GDL and Order of the Black Sun waved a Nazi flag and held antisemitic signs across the street from a North Dallas temple.

In general, ADL reports news with low bias; however, editorial content does lean left. Further, the ADL advocates for policies favored by the liberal left, such as a two-state solution for Palestine and Israel and supporting same-sex marriage and the DREAM Act.

Overall, we rate the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Left-Center biased based on political positions that mostly favor liberal policy. We also rate them High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing of information and being a resource for IFCN fact-checkers. (D. Van Zandt 10/6/2016) Updated (03/27/2024)

Instead of actually backing up the report, you just link something that pinky swears that ADL is mostly liberal while ignoring the propaganda they put out and acting like they support a two-state solution. Nice 👍
