Yeah, so do I. I sometimes even comment stuff that I know are wrong, just to get a conversation going, lol πŸ˜‚.

Be the change, post something 🀷.

Everyone complains, but no one does anything about it...

Ummm... out of the loop.

I seriously doubt those truck drivers need a navigation system. The mobile home owners, maybe.

What in Davy Jones' locker did ye just bark, ye scurvy bilgerat? I'll have ye know I be the meanest cutthroat on the seven seas, and I've led numerous raids on fishing villages, and raped over 300 wenches. I be trained in hit-and-run pillaging and be the deadliest with a pistol of all the captains on the high seas. Ye be nothing to me but another source o' swag. I'll have yer guts for garters and keel haul ye like never been done before, hear me true. You think ye can hide behind your newfangled computing device? Think twice on that, scallywag. As we parley I be contacting my secret network o' pirates across the sea and yer port is being tracked right now so ye better prepare for the typhoon, weevil. The kind o' monsoon that'll wipe ye off the map. You're sharkbait, fool. I can sail anywhere, in any waters, and can kill ye in o'er seven hundred ways, and that be just with me hook and fist. Not only do I be top o' the line with a cutlass, but I have an entire pirate fleet at my beck and call and I'll damned sure use it all to wipe yer arse off o' the world, ye dog. If only ye had had the foresight to know what devilish wrath your jibe was about to incur, ye might have belayed the comment. But ye couldn't, ye didn't, and now ye'll pay the ultimate toll, you buffoon. I'll shit fury all over ye and ye'll drown in the depths o' it. You're fish food now!

Ummm... as I said, everything up until Windows 7 won't boot, not unless is WinPE based. If it's a regular install, no, it won't. Windows 8 and above, yes, it will boot... and it won't throw errors. Will everything regarding 3rd party software work? No. Can it be fixed? No, no source available. Then what's the point of booting from anything other than C? IDK, you tell me πŸ˜‚.

Really? Try booting Windows XP from a drive that is not marked as C: somewhere in registry and in config files. Even if you do manage to change the root from C to something else, it simply refuses to boot, end of story. People have tried it, it just doesn't work. With Win8 and above, yes, it does work, but some programs will out right refuse to work (cuz they're gonna look for C:\%WINDIR%\system32 for the libs it needs to run, and they won't be able to find them).

The only exception to this rule is WinPE (for WinXP), and that is a hacky setup, not officially supported by MS. It can be done, but it takes a looong time to actually make it bootable under any drive letter (anything that's not C).

But yes, you are correct, drive letters were in use before DOS.

Unfortunatelly, drive letters are reminants from the DOS and early Windows days (anything that isn't NT 6.2 kernel based or above, has to have drive letters), so they have to stay for backwards compatibility.

Actually, up until Windows 8, drive letters were required for booting as well (which can be seen in the safe mode boot screen). Windows 8 and above doesn't require them though (can be seen in safe mode with debugging enabled), but they are there and will stay there for a very, very long time. Windows can't just part ways with them, there are just way too many things tied to them... legacy stuff, but legacy stuff that everyone still uses. Like try mounting a network drive without a drive letter, lol πŸ˜‚... or anything for that matter without a letter, you can't. It's how Windows works. It's so deep into the kernel, that there is no way to remove it without breaking stuff left and right.

It's converted to webp once uploaded on Lemmy. The BE supports it, but not every Lemmy instance is set up this way (though most are).

Mooom, the normies are bulling me again.

Well, at least they're using Linux.

A man walks in a bakery (lemmy.rollenspiel.monster)

- Excuse me, do you have 5000 pretzels?

The clerk at the bakery is somewhat surprised but the question, but he gives the man a straight answer.

- Sorry, no.

- OK.

The man leaves, but he comes back the next day.

- Do you have 5000 pretzels.

The clerk is clearly intrigued, but once again, they don't have 5000 pretzels, so he tells the man no and the man leaves again.

This got the clerk thinking, maybe they should bake 5000 pretzels, this man clearly wants to buy them.

So, the clerk is ready the next day. Sure enough, the same man enters the bakery.

-Excuse me, do you 5000 pretzels.

- Yes sir, we sure do ☺️.

- Jesus, who in the fuck is gonna buy that many pretzels!

Tap twice on Home to reset the feed (lemmy.rollenspiel.monster)

I like that 0.0.41 finally fixed the Home button thing (it brought you back to the beginning of the feed... kinda annoying), but now, I have no way to reset the feed, other than scrolling back to start, lol πŸ˜‚.

I suggest double tap on Home to reset the feed... or maybe long tap to bring you to the start of the feed (not reset, just bring you to start) and double tap to bring you to top (start) AND reset the feed.

Please add spelling check support (lemmy.rollenspiel.monster)

Spell checking just doesn't work... as far as I could tell, in all of the apps for Lemmy (at least the 3 or 4 others that I tried apart from Jerboa) and I have no idea why this is.

I have Gboard set up to underline and suggest corrections, not actually auto-correct, because English is not my native language and I use ~~Latin~~ the Latin keybord (mostly) for my native language as well, so it doesn't auto-correct the words when I communicate locally.

Tried SwiftKey, but it doesn't have any options regarding spellchecking, it just has auto correct, suggestions and that's it... so it doesn't actually suite my needs.
