Asus never disappointed me, I have Linux running on a 16 year old eeePC and on a 1 year old TUF gaming notebook.
Two friends of mine have it running smoothly on ThinkPads.
I would never buy HP again, to run Linux on it. It was and is such an effort to get and keep it running with HP being so restrictive regarding BIOS, drivers, and so on.
Dog to the right: "Morning, wanna play?"

It's my daily driver since University and I like Fedora best. What I really love about Linux, is that it empowers you to manage your PC (and even your phone) on your own and without BigTech. No Microsoft, no Apple, no Google ... that is invaluable!

I mean, I get it. For bingewatching to be effective such option must exist. But I just can't imagine to skip Star Trek intros. It's part of the anticipation, the joy, the ritual. What about you? Do you skip intros?

I love dogs! I don't have one yet, but I most certainly will. I'm pretty sure it will help me cope with stress.
I'll try to keep it short. These are the things I love doing, even though I sometimes don't have the energy for any of it, except lying in my bed. Being autistic can be quite exhausting.
...tinkering with alternative operating systems for notebooks and smarties.
...watching Star Trek - grew up with it and just don't get tired of (re-)watching. My fav is Voyager.
...playing video games - my favs are Loz - Breath of the Wild and Horizon - Zero Dawn
...reading - mainly SF, fantasy, and non-fic. My fav authors are Stephen Baxter, Robin Hobb, and Henry David Thorau.
...strength training - one of my rooms was turned into a training room.
...cycling - I own an almost 20 years old Specialized Rockhopper and prefer day trips.
...travelling and hiking with my GF - mainly in remote areas such as Lapland for example.
... lying in my bed, since it is the one place with the least sensory triggers.
Edit: just to follow up on this. I have just been diagnosed with Autism. I am extremely relieved.

My story is quite similiar, though I was working in theoretical ecology. Turned out that I could handle the computers we were working with and their linux distros better than anything else. I went on for another 2.5 years and then quit. I aquired he LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 certificates from the Linux Professional Institute, worked as a pure Linux sysadmin for half a year and am now working as a sysadmin for Windows in Linux in my 5.th year.
Where I live you need at least some kind of certificate (or some on the job experience) and the will and ability to learn. In my experience most companies that are working with Windows will be quite happy to hire someone who doesn't shy away from the terminal and/or cmd.
