So maybe we can not do the same, since climate disasters don’t pick and choose who to hit.

There are also climate disasters in blue states; LA just had historic urban fires fueled by climate change. We can’t fall into the trap of thinking that weather and climate change is some kind of demonstration of the will of God, because your backyard is next. They weren’t kidding when they put the “global” in “global warming.”

Unfortunately natural disasters don’t selectively target Trump voters.

Yeah, they’re not great. Unfortunately the only other option near me that isn’t unaffordable is the Salvation Army 🤢

Goodwill Outlet/bins store, baby. You can still buy by the pound. Regular Goodwill stores are still pretty good here too if you buy the sale tags.

Doesn’t look redacted on my end? The preview just doesn’t load properly.

There’s a good couple of episodes from Behind the Bastards about him, if you’re into that sort of thing.

It’s probably trained on a fuckton of Thomas Kinkade paintings, just statistically, since his output was so huge. He also had that kind of lighting going on, so it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s just baked into AI image generation now.

She’s an artist the way I’m a chef when I go to a restaurant and order food.

You want them to do what instead? They are a school, not a military. They use the toolset they have available.

Accusing OP of posting crypto-antisemitism for using the word “they” in the title of a post that has an extremely clear, literally labeled target (the DNC, if you look at the second panel) feels extremely disingenuous.

You got hard water?

The checklist with all time high counts for six species is absolutely nuts!

Link has resources for both online and in person tax prep, depending on your preference.

This was the first year I’d heard of being able to get this done for free at the library! I plan on getting mine done through them this year.

The whole article is worth reading, but to report rent gouging to the CA attorney general:

Fill out this form at the state attorney general’s website. The form isn’t anonymous; it asks for the information of the person reporting. There’s also a hotline you can call: 1 (800) 952-5225.

I got this email from the NHM:

For Our Community

We are holding all of you in our hearts during this devastating time for Los Angeles.

Based on the information we have now, we are pleased to offer free general admission at the Natural History Museum and La Brea Tar Pits & Museum through Friday, January 17. We hope our museums can serve as spaces of respite, offering comfort and connection with our natural and cultural worlds, while also providing enjoyable and engaging indoor experiences.

Please see our NHM and La Brea Tar Pits websites for more information and how to plan a visit.

In the wake of these devastating fires, we understand that many Los Angeles children are unable to attend school. In addition to the free educational experiences at our museums, we have collaborated with L.A. County Parks & Recreation to bring our Mobile Museums to community parks that are providing emergency youth camps this coming week. We are also welcoming many students from impacted communities to our museums for field trips.

The health and safety of our staff and visitors remains our top priority. We will continue to assess the situation day by day.
