It's a lean, expressive sharding sandcube for testing and deploying large scale Woodchips playgrounds.

4K max settings with RT max, and without frame generation, only achieved 30s FPS in the game

So basically 720p doesn't perform much better than 4k, meaning it's a horrible CPU bottleneck

Just don't use lemmy.world I've seen lots of people having issues signing up with them, and they're overpopulated anyways

what happens when there's 2 different posts in the same community with the same URL, example:

https://programming.dev/post/8880813

https://programming.dev/post/1721399

(I can't find a more recent example right now)

In theory I guess. But you'd need a ton of funding just to get the server power for that, and there's no guarantee that users will switch over to your service. And if Bluesky starts turning bad then they could start blocking your instance. Also the users are much more valuable than the data. There's lots of ways this could fail to pan out. The Fediverse is much more flexible to new instances joining.

maybe it would be simple to fork this source code and form your own community

The network effect makes this extremely difficult, even with the source code, it's basically starting from scratch again.

I've probably played this game for over a hundred hours. Great soundtrack too, by Alexander Brandon. I also loved the minigame hidden behind the DESTRUCT cheat code.

And it's open source too!

I can't believe someone else just mentioned Hover! I haven't played it in decades lol but I did spend a lot of time on it as a kid

Sonic Robo Blast 2 is one of the best Sonic games ever!

I'll start with this: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/2318

Remotely open post, similar to remote follow

An easy way to open the current post in your home instance.

This would be in addition to the text

"You must log in or register to comment."

It would open the current post in your home instance. Similar to how remote follow opens the community in your home instance.

New users on Lemmy often click links and end up on a page that looks almost identical except the address bar says a different domain name, and they wonder why they aren't logged in anymore. I think this would be a pretty easy feature to implement.

Make sure to put thumbs up reactions so the devs know to prioritize them.

Android 16 is adding support for pinned notifications that show live info from apps.

TL;DR

  • Android 16 introduces Live Updates, a new class of notifications for ongoing activities.
  • Live Updates are prominently displayed on the lock screen as well as on the status bar.
  • These notifications are intended for rideshare pickups, food delivery alerts, navigation, and other use cases.

If this doesn’t sound like anything new to you, I don’t blame you. After all, rideshare apps like Uber have already been showing notifications like this for years now. Uber had to do a lot of custom stuff to make its notifications look like that on Android, though. Google has basically created a standardized version of what Uber’s been doing. With the new progress-centric notifications in Android 16, any app can create notifications like Uber.

The classic MMORPG RuneScape has been successfully ported to the Sega Dreamcast by the homebrew development team LobotomyDC, marking another milestone for the retro console’s vibrant community.

Doesn't seem like it uses ActivityPub, still interesting, and open source

In Nextcloud, user’s Federated Cloud ID works similar to an email address or a Mastodon handle, allowing them to exchange data across servers: share files and and collaborate on documents, communicate in group chats and make audio and video calls.

Federated tools available in Nextcloud:

  • Federated file sharing
    • Share documents and media to users in other Nextcloud Hub instances for viewing, editing and collaboration.
  • Federated chatting
    • Create group chats with users from different servers and use many essential chat tools.
  • Federated calls
    • Make audio and video calls with Nextcloud Talk among users from different servers.

Unreal Tournament, one of the most popular first person shooter deathmatch games ever released, is still well known for its soundtrack, consisting of high energy electronica, fast paced modern orchestra and and grinding guitars. Now the original composers return to score this remix album, putting a modern spin and new interpretation on this classic! If you've ever enjoyed a game of UT, you definitely should check out this reimagining of the music by Alexander Brandon, Michiel Van Den Bos, Peter Hajba, Andrew Sega and Dan Gardopée.

The new Nvidia RTX 5090 delivers the fastest gaming performance ever seen from a consumer GPU - but at an average 31 percent improvement over RTX 4090, is that enough to meet expectations? And meanwhile, what about DLSS 4? Are frame generation fps boosts actually increased performance? It's tricky - and the discussion has only just begun.

some forums that use NodeBB, will be interesting to see if they enable federation

https://nodebb.org/showcase/

announcement post from [email protected] : https://community.nodebb.org/topic/18545/nodebb-v4.0.0-federate-good-times-come-on

Comment below with any other NodeBB communities as people update their servers and enable federation

You can turn federation on and off (and adjust some other fun toggles) directly from ACP > Settings > Federation (ActivityPub).
