Afaik, lemmy.ml never gave a reason as to why they defederated with us. Which is obviously fair, they are their own instance, and can make that decision. However, it most likely has to do with their strict "no porn" rule, since if members want to upload or view content from lemmynsfw.com, their servers would have to handle that and a lot of instance admins don't like the thought of having to manage explicit/sensitive content like what we have.

I mean Lemmy itself is simply a program/network that connects to other pieces of itself. lemmy.ml is different to lemmy.world for example, even though they might feel or seem like one thing.

There is no way to do this at the moment, but our head admin is working on a patch that would allow you to unblur all media.

(13/06 10:07 gmt) Seems like the issues we were having have been resolved (possibly an issue with cloudflare). Although you may still notice the website is a little slower then it should be.

The image uploading should work now, so feel free to upload as much you want!

Image uploading may also not be functioning at the minute, you can use an image hosting platform like lensdump.com or something similar in the meantime.

Pict-rs GIF to Animated WebP (self.lemmy_support)

Currently pict-rs seems to convert gifs to mp4 automatically and then store it as such. Is there any way to change this, and to use, for example webp instead?

While I agree GIFs are a wholly un-optimal format and are better off gone, isn't it better to store them as animated WebP files which is closer to gif (loops automatically, seamless, etc) then gif is to mp4.

Please try to be as active as you can. Don't just come here, fap and then leave. Try to contribute and interact with the communities here. Because it's not the numbers that will drive growth for Lemmy but the engagement. Even if you don't want to contribute, you can always comment and interact by downvoting or upvoting posts.

We need to work together to ensure the best success we possibly can for Lemmy and the wider Fediverse.

Fuck Reddit, let's all try to move away from that absolute shitshow.

On another note: If you can't view the Lemmy NSFW communities, check out the other locally pinned post for some potential communities you could join.

Spread the Word about Lemmy NSFW if you can, as many instances don't like hosting NSFW content.

Build your own Community. No fetish is too niche, try creating your own communities to help grow Lemmy NSFW further! (Make sure your community follows all instance-wide rules, though!).
