You ever think a post on 196 could save your life?

I like her monologues. I love her stand-up. The intensity of her facial expressions is a big part of her comedy, and she doesn't do that on the talk show.

That's disturbing, well done.

Obviously beetles aren't smart enough to comprehend 5th grade science.

I keep an excel spreadsheet of recipes. Every sheet focuses on a single ingredient, either produce or protien. I see what's on sale each week and look for recipes that utilize those ingredients.

I think language is like art. It's ideal to learn the rules then brek them.

Visited a booth at my farmer's market where the mom working was wearing her baby in a sling on her back. This kid's neck was as far back as it could go. We mentioned it to the mom, and she just said "yeah, her head's been bobbing around all morning."

I don't know the baby's age. And I don't know much about babies. Based on the first time I saw her, she's at least seven months old. I know that newborns' necks need to be supported. And I know that having your neck in that position can cause a stroke in adults.

It made my mom so uncomfortable she had to walk away, but the people behind us talked to the woman and said nothing about it. Should this be reported to someone? Or is it totally normal and fine?

Appeal factors are the characteristics that engage the reader and include the book’s pacing, the level of character development, the types and complexity of language used, the mood of the story, and the book’s overall tone.

I'm excited to try out some of the tools they link to. Right away I see so many new-to-me interesting titles on whichbook.

I've been collecting magazine images for a while, wanting to try this surrealist collage thing. But I have such a fear of committing to using an image. If I use up my paints, I can buy more, but if I use an image I found in a second-hand magazine, it can't be replaced. It's like playing Apples-to-Apples or Cards Against Humanity, when you play a card and pick up a new one to replenish your hand, then realize the new one would have worked so much better for the current prompt.

Hello artists,

This week we are making a collage, which is an assemblage of different materials to create a new image. Per wikipedia:

A collage may sometimes include magazine and newspaper clippings, ribbons, paint, bits of colored or handmade papers, portions of other artwork or texts, photographs and other found objects, glued to a piece of paper or canvas.

Of course, your collage could be digital, or a combination of digital and analog, too.

I found this video on how to compose a collage helpful.

I also love this channel, which shows how you can just play around to create something. I hope you’ll all use some of these prompts for these kinds of playful activities rather than feel like you need to have a masterpiece when you’re done.

Go forth and create.

Hello my fellow art lovers,

This week, we're inspired by the concept of wetness. This can mean:

  • Using a wet medium. Water color paints/pencils are obvious. Have you ever painted with coffee or tea? Or you can try adding water to a normally dry medium and see what happens.

  • Make art of something wet. A glass with liquid in it can be a beautiful challenge. An ocean painting or nature scene with beads of dew can be lovely and peaceful. Or a portrait of someone crying.

  • There are lots of artists who make a living drawing NSFW images, so if that's your thing, go for it.

Go forth and create.
