I agree! Perhaps she gave it some thought after OP made his attentions clear and wants to move forward in a more girlfriend-y way. Kind of sounds that way to me. I'm sure they will work it out as they seem to be acting maturely about it.

I like the breakfast tassels.

In Canada, those are pancakes. The ones you made are crepes. It's a pan-cake because it's cooked in a pan, and rises like a cake. They have baking soda which is a levening agent and makes bubbles and a (hopefully) light and fluffy product. Crepes are more like a tortilla, decidedly flat.

Pancakes are also called flapjacks for some reason.

Disclosure: I went to art school.

The talk was, art is about exploring ideas and generating thought. Art doesn't serve a purpose aside from creating new ideas. This is different from something like pottery, where the goal is to have a really pretty mug or ashtray. This is the "art and craft dichotomy". Craft is about making functional items in a beautiful or interesting way. Textiles, jewelry, furniture, pottery. It's about skilled people creating items for the betterment of daily life. A mug, beautifully made as it may be, won't ever be art unless you drill holes in it, put it on a plith and title it "My Meaningless Existence" or something. Art won't help you about your day except giving you fresh viewpoints on the workaday world.

Viewed from this lens, the bower birds are building these things to get laid. They are craftsmen.

For my part as a textile major I thought this was all bullshit, although now that I'm old I understand what they were getting at.

The next part of my lecture we will look at the differences between art and design. Reply "STOP" to unsubscribe from Memories of Art School.

When they say "burn up on reentry" they don't mean disintegrate, they mean burn. It's exactly like throwing thousands of home entertainment systems in a fire except that the pollution is in the upper atmosphere where normal pollution doesn't reach.

I think that's how the Big Lie works.

She also would knit socks and gloves on 4 double pointed needles. I went more towards weaving and now sewing, but I love the three dimensionality of knitting in the round.

Wow! My mom was a knitter and would make beautiful cabled sweaters on needles connected by a "string". Is that what you mean by circular needles? Very impressive. Good job!

The seemingly endless scroll of reposts is absolutely one of the factors preventing the casual passerby from sticking around lemmy. They won't notice it's posted to different instances, it just looks like a glitch.

Hitchhikers Guide

Boeing is for sure a shit show and terribly managed, but I don't think they would blatantly kill guys like that. I think it's far more likely that the first guy did kill himself because he figured everybody would think Boeing whacked him and that would do far more damage to the company than his testimony would. Now any news falls under a suspicious gaze and here we are thinking some other guys unfortunate death is due to nefarious deeds.

Or I'm wrong and Boeing has a CIA division ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've made a few posts, most about sync, but none show up in my profile under 'posts'. Even the ones I made in my own instance. What's up?

Welcome to another sailing community! Hopefully there's some crew around to liven the place up! Anything wind powered goes!

Why can't we block/subscribe from the hamburger menu on the post? Is it this difficult on purpose? Can we edit out a few of those actions? Blocking communities is a huge part of my lemmy experience.
