Not OP, but I think that would rank #4 on my list of things to eat raw on a hot day.

1: Cucumber;

2: Carrots;

3: Potatoes (obviously peeled, I'm not an animal);

4: Watermelon.

It's great, like Reddit but without the bollocks and only minor drama. I only chose it as a geographical preference, seems to have been a good shout though.

My only gripe at the moment - and it's not a FedditUK issue but a Lemmy issue in general - is the sheer amount of bot content of scraped Reddit content. It's frustrating to click a link only to be taken to Reddit. Fuck that noise.

When was the last time that happened in the UK?

In fact, when did that ever happen in the UK?

The hack is coming from inside the instance!

I used to work for a contact centre doing tech support, and one of my colleagues did this (keeping it deliberately vague because there's a BBC news article about it floating about), and it was huge news at the time - noted down a woman's number and started trying to flirt with her afterwards. It caused a massive drama, and widespread data handling regulations where introduced in the wake of it.

Now, it seems to be almost normal, if the 30+% figure is accurate.

What is wrong with these people?

You realise you're applying what I'm assuming are US laws to a study based on English and Welsh laws, yes?

Distracted driving is not an offence, the use (or causing or permitting the use of) a mobile phone is an offence. For more broad issues, then charges of Careless (or even Dangerous) Driving would apply.

Plus your logic is so full of holes, it sinks faster than an Oceangate sub. You could use that angle to argue that throwing axes in a primary school is a victimless crime until someone gets hurt.

I have no idea what your example is trying to highlight, but it matters not - if it was a fringe case, then clearly you would either appeal the fixed penalty notice, or reject the FPN and put your argument to a court.

It's hardly white noise then, is it?

It sounds like some ASMR-style background noise, or a chosen sound of nature or ambient noise.

I'd be more impressed if they were getting megabucks for uploading tracks of a tuned-out television.

It certainly was weird yeah, but nothing I couldn't get used to.

The only real pain in the tits was accessing the numpad, that was really unintuitive.

I had the Titan. I wanted to keep a QWERTY phone after BlackBerry pulled out of the hardware market. It's the opposite of the small form factor that you're after, though I understand the Titan Pocket goes some way to addressing this.

It was... functional. The keyboard was good, and certainly robust. The battery lasted a day and a half of fair to heavy use, and it was sturdy enough to shrug off most bumps and grinds with the Unihertz gel case. It was also super affordable, even at it's peak of interest.

Unfortunately, the camera was utter shit (even with decent third party apps like Opencamera), and a design quirk with the fingerprint sensor mounted on the home button meant that it was the on the most raised surface of the front of the phone, meaning that it took the brunt of scuffs or scrapes, so the sensor became less effective. Some of the included apps were a bit janky but certainly workable, and even though the screen was super pretty the aspect ratio did funky things with apps designed for standard portrait displays.

For the money, you can't go wrong with Unihertz phones, just don't expect them to be flagship quality, and be prepared to put up with some minor annoyances.

I enjoyed my 18 months with it overall. I jumped to the Samsung Galaxy Flip 3 when I ran out of QWERTY options.

It was a cracker, but I think my heart still lies with Version 2.0 - even if Only Happy When It Rains is perhaps their standout song, from all of their stuff.
