Purely anecdotal

Well these are all nerd terms, because most of the community in here consists of IT guys and people who use Linux, most of the time they are the same. You don't need to know what Docker, Self host, Fork, Container, Flatpak, Tailscale, Distro, Wayland and Nginx is, unless you are interested in IT.

Knowing Federated and Instance could be beneficial for the Lemmy users I think.

  • Federated: Imagine you are the resident of town X, and you frequently communicate and engage in town X, but you can also communicate with your best friend who lives in town Y, and your parents who reside in town Z. This is how Lemmy and Mastodon works instead of social media like Reddit, FB, Insta etc etc, where with my analogue the residents live in 1 capital city with no towns to talk with, and having to abide by their rules, whereas different towns may have different laws.
  • Instance: Following my analogue an instance is a town of this federated world. For example you are the resident of sh.itjust.works town and I'm living in sopuli.xyz

Oof, although it doesn't seem too surprising.

Thanks for the idea! Imma make it this week then, it looks unique with this fish grinding method, although my mom will hate it cause she doesn't like fish at all. xD

Despite hearing Che Guevera's name sometimes, I've never known anything about them. These seem really cool, it's worthy for a good history podcast about his acts.

I want to continue my blog posts on how to deploy a correctly functioning *arr setup with k3s (Jellyfin, Sonarr/Radarr are done, Prowlarr and Qbittorrent are left) to document this process for myself if I want to recreate it in the future.

My other wish would be to bake or cook something new from an abroad country again, but there is nothing that catched my eye yet.

Wow didn't know that.

It is definitely true that by lowering the amount of food waste (like food retail companies letting their employees bring almost expired food home to consume etc etc). I just unfortunately assume that we won't really improve in this food waste area.

Eugenics and genocide in the name of overpopulation could theoretically go into power (or comeback with eugenics), although I think the chance of that happening will be low, atleast in countries like Europe and north american countries, but your point is understandable.

Oh my this looks tasty! What's the recipe?

Let's be fair, 9 billion of people living on Earth is already just too much and we are projected to peak at 11 billion apparently.

I'm trying to setup my first homeserver with pods alone but I can't add my mounted /data (it's an external HDD) folder to the root folder, but the /app and /config works. It's a common issue but somehow I wasn't able to solve it.

OS: Rocky Linux 9.3

External HDD (WD Elements)

external HDD in /etc/fstab:

# WD Elements drive
UUID=4655386a-5ccf-4c7b-ad6a-c0b90ccf8454 /home/privatenoob/media/storage1 xfs defaults 0 0

radarr.service:

[Unit]
Description=Radarr Movie Server
After=network.target

[Service]
ExecStart=podman run --name=radarr -e PUID=1000 -e PGID=1000 -e UMASK=002 -p 7878:7878 -v radarr-config:/config -v /home/privatenoob/media/storage1/Filmek:/data --restart unless-stopped lscr.io/linuxserver/radarr:latest
ExecStop=podman stop radarr
Restart=on-failure

[Install]
WantedBy=default.target

Permissions:

drwxr-xr-x. 2 privatenoob privatenoob 6 Jan 17 16:52 Filmek

drwxr-xr-x   4 abc    users    139 Jan 18 19:44 config
drwxr-xr-x   2 root   root       6 Jan 17 15:52 data

chown -R 1000:1000 /data didn't work. It gave permission denied, even though I used root (probably this is because of -e PUID=1000?)

I'm planning to make my first ever bakery dish for Christmas as a surprise to my family. Do you have decorations that might look funny, cute or maybe something other for a food decoration. I couldn't find any good tiny anime figures, so my best bet are these cats.

I have my eye on the Orange Pi 5 8GB as my first SBC to selfhost with. These would be the roles for the SBC:

  • Jellyfin with 4K
  • Some *arr services
  • Host own domain site
  • Pi-Hole
  • Google Photos alternative?
  • Probably more I guess
  • Be low-power consuming

What's your take on this? Is 8GB enough?

Technically both are RISC based but probably they are way different in implementation. I'm thinking about buying a RISC-V SBC, and I just want to be sure about compatiblity with running ARM based software.

I exported my data with these tools (and tried out alternatives too):

Tried out instances were piped.lunar.icu and piped.yt and lunar was able to create empty playlists which were named correctly atleast or just refreshed the page with nothing happening but it has detected 0 subscriptions. yt on the other hand didn't respond to either of these import requests, but it correctly detected my subscriptions, just didn't import them.

Am I doing something wrong, on an instance where this feature is incomplete, or are these features currently in development?

EDIT: kavin.rocks can successfully import the subscribers, but not the playlists.

Not sure if you will find this funny, since this is song is known in hungarian communities, just experimenting.

I have been urging to try out VRChat for ages, but I don't have a headset yet, since I'm waiting for the Deckard or a cheaper PCVR headset that is up-to-date.

How many non-VR people do you see in VRChat? I kinda fear of being left out / discriminated against because of the lack of a headset.

Dear patient lemmings, I am in need of your help. I'm searching for games that have some GOD DAAMN OSTs and come with a great story or/and gameplay.

Games that tick these requirements for me:

  • Danganronpa 1/2/V3 + Ultra Despair Girls (most recently finished)
  • Persona 4/5 (waiting for Persona 3 remaster)
  • NFS Most Wanted (2005, 2012), Carbon, ProStreet
  • Doom 2016, Eternal
  • Test Drive Unlimited 2
  • Life is Strange
  • Ace Combat 7
  • Omori
  • ULTRAKILL
