Oof. Neither really, and that's coming from a Lakers fan. Lol

Eh, Gretzky at his peak probably falls into today's average speed for nhl players. Maybe slightly above. His IQ would still be there as would be his puck handling. Not really sure he'd be able to walk the blue line like he used to with the same effect but I'm sure he'd still be really good at it. Guy had patience on the blue line entry.

He was super elite in his era. But eras don't transfer. That said, I certainly don't think he gets rocked if for nothing more than you don't have to worry about that kind of shit these days.

I will say this though, Ovi, ruzzian populist not withstanding, would probably still excel in Gretzky's era because he is built and can lay hits and take some damage. He just probably ends up one of those guys who's smoking and drinking after practice.

At least we can stop hearing about it now

GG Oils. Weak win honestly. Would have been better with a playoff atmosphere but what can you do with injuries on both sides and the best forwards in the world not playing. Also doesn't help that matinee games are stupid.

Thanks for the safe place Canadian friends. Appreciate the Lemmy curating.

And for what it's worth, I for one would take CA becoming a Canadian province. Would definitely salute my maple syrup overlords.

Oof. Don't know how I feel about Kuemps beating a JQ record.

Post season reffing is going to be horrid.

Weird 3rd period. Kings not looking like themselves. This is usually when they step up.

Too many men is probably a decent strat given we can't do anything on our PP except give the Oils some momentum.

It's honestly hard being content on reddit with all the crap that goes on. And frankly, I'm tired of seeing the LA sub there getting brigaded by the small % of toxic Oilers fans following the reddit game threads when we play.

So figured I'd sit here by myself and post comments into the ether.

GL Oils. No more injuries. GKG

Good luck boys, hope it's one for the ages.

It sounds like the only injury scratch for tomorrow is McAvoy who apparently has a crazy infection in his shoulder. The American forwards should all be starting.

Has anyone heard if Canada is expecting an injury scratch that wasn't previously noted? I feel like they are suiting everyone up who they came into the tourney with.

Hope McAvoy recovers properly. Infections are no joke and it sounds like that joint took a lot of damage.

(This is mostly a community traction post because Lemmy needs more of it.)

US dev seems to be paying off on the top level. We have already seen the more recent juniors results the last handful of years but now it is starting to show beyond that.

I know the majority of this US roster comes from that program and I feel like last night that was visually apparent. It's starting to feel like a proper Canadian / American hockey rivalry has taken shape which should mean the next decade or so of international events should be top notch from that perspective.

On a semi related note; RIP to the Kids' 26 game win streak record wearing the Canadian sweater. Absolutely a legendary stat. His first assist against Sweden was crazy greasy. (Edit)
