Hypothetical situation, you are a normal person you've likely struggled all your life with bills and debts and then one day you randomly find yourself a billionaire. Perhaps you inherited it, or won the lotto. What would you suggest a person in that situation do? This is would be a once in a lifetime opportunity, , you could finally not have to stress about money, but in order to save your soul should you give it all away to charity and go back to your normal life as though nothing had happened?

Edit: I was legitimately curious what the ethical solution would be if one were to find themselves in that exceedingly rare situation that I described. But okay looks like I ruffled a few feathers by asking.

Would you be able to give examples of healthier behaviors that vegans and vegetarians perform that the general population does not?

If one made their choice to abstain from meat for ethical reasons and not health reasons I'm not sure their lifestyle would be drastically different from their counterparts, then again I'm not sure what particular behavior patterns you are referring to which could throw off studies.

I think this is the correct answer, outside of large cities it is not legal to build apartments or row houses in many places in the States. It would probably be significantly easier to skirt the zoning laws to buy a plot of land and put 100 tiny houses on it, than to attempt to get some sort exception granted to the zoning in order to build an apartment or row house.

Yes. Yes I did.

None, I've never particularly liked them. I know some people love them, but to me they don't smell great, kinda sulfurous farts and they have an odd smushy consistency when cooked.

One that doesn't have a strong taste, canola yes, olive no.

I think this comment really nails what's irking me amount newer Trek. It used to be a show that was written in a way that regardless of your politics, anyone could watch, and it would make you think. It was a show that would sneakily slip in progressive ideas that could make you second guess your perspectives on the world.

Now there is no depth to it, it just slaps you in the face with politics.

This is probably gonna be a hot take, but I think Star Trek should be written in a way that is appealing for conservatives to watch, but regularly slips in metaphors which challenges their world view. Trek was at it's best when on it's surface it was a fun adventure show, and the politics was on a deeper level.

Well considering politics isn't something I've spent a lot of my time thinking about, and I suspect my ideas are somewhat under developed. Because of which I'd love to take a look at that scoreboard and see what it says about me. Because I have no clue what I truly believe anymore.

Out of curiosity do you have any evidence to back that claim for those raised in an environment where you have a high degree of science education? Like I know without science to explain the natural world, religion makes "sense". But as long as you have a strong knowledge base in science I'm not convinced people would be easily swayed by religion.

For example, I was raised without religion, and I've never seen much of a reason to learn about it. That being said whenever I hear someone talk about religion it sounds particularly absurd to my ears. "Sky Daddy will fix all your ills, you just need to trust in sky Daddy. Sky Daddy doesn't like it when you X." I'm sorry, what? Uh no.

Do tell, I have no clue why you'd go to New Zealand.

I recall another thread a few weeks ago where someone suggested a no political discussion day, and everyone down-voted him and gave them angry responses. I recall one up-voted response saying "everything is political".

This place has become an echo chamber for cranky old Linux users and is really uninviting to anyone else.

One of the things I miss about Reddit is the diversity of opinions and viewpoints on the platform. (I didn't love the insane amount of reposts and bot traffic)

Probably 30+ years ago I went to a Star Trek convention and went to go see George Takei speak, at the time I was pretty young and was all geared up to hear stories of his time filming the show and/or movies. Instead he spoke about his time in the interment camps. As a ten-ish year old kid, I was pretty confused, but yeah it would be a lie if I said that didn't stick with me.
