Are they in the room with us right now?

Part of the reason it can be hard to tell is because we cannot see a source of the ambient light shining onto the part of the dress we see. The reason I see white and gold is because my brain defaults to the back lighting being sunlight and the overhead being shaded by tent. Not uncommon at rennaissance fairs and the like. But if you see this all as in door lighting it's much easier to imagine bright overhead department store lights or something.

So no, no one is stupid for seeing it one way or the other.

What part of TERF ideology is actually feminist and not a thinly veiled mask for conservative-based gender essentialist ideology that feminism at its core has been fighting against since it's inception, just this time aimed at trans women to protect "real women"?

I'm genuinely curious because all the advocacy I've seen from TERFS is all about demonizing transgender women, infantilizing transgender men and... Siding suspiciously often with conservatives more than their supposed ideological ancestors.

I kind of understand because I worry about it purely in my own case. I have severe ADHD and, overall, I really wish I could just function without it being a struggle every single day. But in my case and many others with my type of ADHD, its comorbidity with Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria makes me extremely empathetic. A lot of my friends over the years have told me that, when they need someone to truly understand them and see them and give perspective that resonates, they come to me first.

If someday, a doctor would be able to snip off some chromosomes and suddenly I'm cured, it would be positively life-changing. But I would hesitate. The emotional resonance that comes easily to me is something I hold dear to my heart. Would I Iose that part of myself? Would I care? I don't know. I love that part of me, and while I wouldn't necessarily be a worse person, losing that part of me means a lot of people that love me lose something they love about me too.

It's associated with fascism because a lot of fascist individuals and regimes have and still do fetishize this as a way of eliminating undesirables.

We can do both? What's a rocket scientist going to do about systemic oppression and the rise of fascism that excludes them from working on rockets still?

I wish my instance allowed down votes for this very reason.
