Pretty sure they said they will have access to the Supercharger network. I don't see Tesla adding card readers to every supercharger. I think it's far more likely that the cars will talk to the superchargers just like Teslas do.

I guess my point is that you don't really DO anything. You don't have to fire up an app and log in and shit. The charger talks to the car when you plug it in and it just goes. Not sure what your hang-up is with apps (no judgement here, but clearly there is one) but in this case it's pretty seamless and a lot more convenient than some other custom payment apps.

I've only ever used Superchargers (I have a PHEV, but there's no need to charge that away from home). The Supercharger just talks directly to the car and handles it through your Tesla account/app. Once most cars are using the NACS connector in a year or two, I assume this will be how it works for them too.

Oh, cool then. Thanks, I don't use Xwitter so I would have never seen that. lol

At first I was like "oh that's dope, they're sending it to all owners, not just providing them for new cars purchased after the announcement." Then I realized they kept saying "eligible owners" and nowhere does it specify what eligible means. So I will reserve judgement for now.

There's "not caring about" them and there's "making it so people who could play before now can't". You're purposely shrinking your active user base while simultaneously shutting out a growing segment of the market. In the name of a feature that's arguably not even effective at its goal.

I have an idea to help more people play our games! Let's put a kernel-level anti-cheat on them so nobody who uses linux can play them anymore! Oh wait...

I'm curious why this article is framed like Ford is doing someone a favor rather than Ecolab making a large purchase from Ford. Ecolab should be getting credit for shifting to electric. Not Ford getting credit for... selling stuff to people... you know, that thing is does every day.

My issue with the Volt is just that is was really crappy to be inside. It was a terrible Chevy interior combined with lack of space due to them trying to fit batteries into a platform that wasn't designed for it.

Yes, it was great on paper. But when it came time to test drive one I was really turned off.

Chevy should indeed bring back a PHEV option because they're just the most sensible choice for the most people until the charging infrastructure gets better. But the Volt kinda sucked so they should do something better like the Bolt.

That's how every PHEV works...

I don’t know if you noticed this but some really big companies with high stock valuations are only existing because investors poured tons of capital into them to subsidize the service.

Exactly, they PAID MONEY to make it work. No they don't make the money back and depend on outside capital, but they are still paying their employees (not enough) and suppliers, etc.

IMHO, Xbox is a better console than PS this gen. I was a PS guy all the way but I got both XSX and PS5 when they came out and I barely touch my PS5 compared to the Xbox.

To be fair, most of the reasons I prefer the Xbox are just user experience things. The biggest one is that I think the PS5 controller is horrible. The ergonomics are all weird for me (yeah I realize that everyone's hands are different) and the fancy trigger buttons are real cool in the one or two games that make use of them but they're squishy and vague feeling in the other 99% of games. The Xbox controller has better ergonomics, and better feel in the hand with its materials and button feel. Yes, ergonomics and feel preference will vary from person to person but it's worth mentioning since I never had an issue with PS controllers until the PS5.

The other reasons I prefer the Xbox are things like how much better it is for things on your TV that aren't gaming (streaming shows, watching movies, etc.), I think Gamepass is WAY better than the Sony version, it has more exclusives I am interested in, etc.

Anyhow, you do you, but you might look into the Xbox a little before blindly just going with the PS5 on the strength of the older consoles. I was surprised by how much I didn't want to use the PS5. And a little bummed if I'm honest. It was a lot of effort to get one at launch and a lot of money and it mostly just gathers dust.

And to answer your specific question, if you do decide to go with a PS5, just get whatever is available when you are ready to get one. When it comes to tech, there's always something better coming so you can wait forever because they will never say "okay, all done!".

Okay so I have never been into the Souls games. The whole "brutally difficult" thing never appealed to me, and watching my friends play was enough to turn me off.

However I decided to take the plunge and try Elden Ring recently because of all the amazing hype. Tons of "I'm not a Souls gamer but I loved it!" kind of hype.

And it's pretty fun! I get why it got so much love.

But I also, after a week or two of play, have identified exactly what I don't like about Souls games. It turns out it's not the difficulty. I grew up playing in arcades and on the NES so I'm no stranger to trying things over and over until I get it right.

It's the damn death penalty. I cannot express the depth of my hatred of losing progress. Games with save points that are too far apart or games where you can lose items when you die, etc, are just the worst for me. And in Elden Ring, the stress that goes along with trying to get back to my corpse to get my money/XP back is stress I don't want or need.

So I ask you all this: can you recommend a Souls style game with the fun gameplay loop but without the punishing death penalty? Does that even exist or is it just not a Souls game without that? I'd love the carrot of [learn fight, get better, epic win] without the stick of [now go grind low level mobs for XP, loser].

So I'm seeing a peach/salmon color for my main color scheme on the app. I'd love to change that.

I do wonder if it's just me. In Jerboa, when "dynamic" is selected for the color theme, it gives me the same color. No idea where that's coming from as my main color scheme is a vibrant red both in the Android system and on my desktop and icons.

Anyhow, I've tried Connect, Jerboa and Liftoff and this is my favorite one so far. I'll be putting together more detailed feedback later but first impressions are great. Keep up the good work!

Hot take, I know. But it needs to be said before anything else.

I seem to be surviving so far. A little over two years from my diagnosis. Radiation, chemo, several surgeries, and now immunotherapy weekly. The cancer seems to be gone for now, but my body is wrecked from all the treatments.

Oh the irony.

But I'm still here. Hugs and hope to everyone else dealing with this bullshit. If you want to talk, @ me. <3
