They just slashed over $180 million in LGBTQIA+ health research—because apparently queer lives don't fucking matter to them.

This isn’t “policy,” it’s state-sanctioned erasure disguised as budget cuts.

We’re not gonna be quiet while they gut our survival to score points with bigots.

Get fucking loud.

When the Trans Unity March happened last month, it was hardly reported on outside LGBTQNation and Washington Blade. Not that there's anything wrong with these publications, but what can be done to make sure the April 30th march has a wider impact?

I just found this subreddit today, but maybe some of the people in charge should consider reaching out to some outlets closer to the march date? I'm just spitballing, but I attached a few contacts for some news outlets that might give an upcoming movement the time of day.

Washington City Paper They are a local paper that have an LGBTQ news archive so they might be receptive. It would be good to get coverage from news other than LGBT magazines to reach general audiences ((though yes lgbt magazines are important too as you can see below.)) Here is their contact form for news tips.

Metro Weekly A local DC based LGBT magazine and nominee for a GLAAD media award. Their suggestions and feedback emails are [email protected] and [email protected]. They also have this phone number on their website (202-638-6830). Unfortunately I couldn't find a form or email for new tips specifically. Since they cover local topics in the D.C area they may feel especially inclined to cover the march at National Mall. For some reason it seems they didn't cover the Trans Unity March, so hopefully this will give them the figurative kick in the pants to cover this march.

The Advocate A magazines that recently won (and previously won) a GLAAD media award. Here is their news tips email: [email protected]

Of course feel free to reach to larger and less LGBT focused publications (though ideally still with a good track record on covering LGBT issues) such as Variety at their news tip form. While expect rejection, I think it's worth it to try.

[Ending note: this contact info is only stuff readily available online since doxxing employees is obviously bad.]

Hey so I noticed y'all didn't have any printer friendly sizes for your April 30th event materials so I whipped up something last night. It's made for standard 8.5 by 11 size printer paper (with an added quarter inch of bleeds in case your printer screws up). DPI is 300 pixels (optimal) when printed at that size.

The PNG version is on my new deviantart for best image quality since it seems like reddit compresses it in posts.

You can find a PDF version here. Obviously free to use as flyers or posters.

If it ends up on the wearevivid.org website or main accounts though please credit me to the DA account in a caption or something.

Colors should hopefully be CMYK printer friendly though I'm not great with CMYK and don't have a test printer, so if lmk if the colors come out too different.

Edit: had to quickly delete and repost since reddit wasn't letting me make edits after posting for some reason. Then I realized there was a URL issue and another minor tweak I needed to do and again reddit was... reddit. Anyways this should be the last time sorry about that.

We've been doing weekly protests, every Sunday - next week will be our ninth week straight. 'Peaceful protests against fascism, basically.

We could be out there, seven days a week, with a different theme, every day - and still not have enough time to cover everything going on; locally and nationally. Globally.

but, 'stop project 2025; hands off trans rights!!; why are we trusting billionaires; no kings in America, this is the gist.

I KNEW they would pass this hateful, despicable garbage, but now that they actually have, I'm at a bit of a loss for words at the moment. This just passed in WV today.

I am making signs tonight to incorporate this into tomorrow's demonstration, and the 19th and 20th next weekend (i'd love to see people's artwork and signs, if you have any

Here a few of mine

I guess I'm just writing to say, wherever you are, I see you, and I love you, and if you can't be out there to protest that's OK, it's not safe for everybody and we recognize that. Especially those of us stuck in these very conservative red states.

I'm heartbroken, but I know you all are as well, but it gives us a beautiful strength as well. United in rage at injustice, but love and support for each other.

I just found this community, 🌈 🏳️‍⚧️ 💕 and I'm so glad to have found you.

VIVID Removes Board Member Following Conduct Violations

Washington, D.C. — The leadership of VIVID announces today that Parker is no longer affiliated with the organization in any official capacity. Effective immediately, Parker has been removed from the VIVID Board of Directors due to behavior deemed inconsistent with the values, expectations, and ethical standards of the activist movement.

VIVID remains unapologetically committed to equity, truth, and justice—guided by transparency, accountability, and the trust of the communities we serve. This decision was not made lightly, but it was necessary. We do not tolerate conduct that compromises our mission or the safety and integrity of this work.

We are not here to protect power—we are here to protect people. And we will always choose the movement over any one individual.

Media Contact:
[email protected]

At VIVID, we care deeply about the people who have been part of our community, even when our paths eventually diverge. In recent weeks, we have received troubling reports and observed concerning behavior from our former board member, Parker — including inappropriate comments directed toward our organization and reports of disruptive conduct involving other activist groups across the country.

This situation saddens us deeply. Activism is difficult work — emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. No one is immune to the toll it can take. Out of genuine care and concern, we strongly encourage Parker to seek support from trusted mental health professionals who can help guide him through whatever struggles he may be facing.

At VIVID, we believe that wellness must be at the center of any movement for change. We urge all activists, organizers, and leaders to prioritize their mental health, seek support when needed, and remember that asking for help is never a weakness — it is a profound act of strength.

We sincerely wish Parker healing, growth, and peace. Our focus remains on building an activist movement rooted in mindfulness, accountability, and compassion.

Great Idea.

Perhaps call it something like:

BeeOff/BuzzOff: A play on "bee/buzz" similar to Honey, but with a focus on avoiding (off) certain products.

BoycottBee: Directly stating its purpose as a boycott tool.

Avoidify: Emphasizes the idea of avoiding certain products or brands.

BlanketBan: Suggests a comprehensive avoidance or ban.

NectarNone: Opposite of honey nectar, focusing on avoiding products.

ProtestPal: A friendly companion for those who want to make a statement by boycotting certain products.

SentryShop: Acts as a guardian or sentry while shopping, warning against certain products.

Ethico: Emphasizes ethical consumption by avoiding certain brands or products.

NoGo: Simple and direct, signaling products to avoid.

BlockBuy: Directly blocks purchases of unwanted products.

SanctionShop: Implies a personal sanction or restriction on certain products.

ProtestPulse: A tool that keeps the pulse of your protest or boycott efforts.

Avoida: A playful name emphasizing avoidance.

EDIT: I wonder, alongside a potential plug-in, what if someone created a federated platform or website that tracked the protests, boycotts, etc.?

It would allow Fediverse users to be able to follow the protests/boycotts.

Although, I'm honestly surprised that there isn't a Fediverse equivalent/Alternative to Discord.

IK that platforms like Matrix exist, but what I'm talking about is a federated platform that's a clone of Discord.

What about using Matrix ?

I'm pretty sure that you can bridge Matrix with WhatsApp.

Not defending her, but she is also on Bluesky

There are so many that it's getting hard to keep track! There are more suits than this, but I wanted to share a bunch that I took note of, as I know we could all use an uplift right now.

These lawsuits were brought by various State Attorneys General, the ACLU, Lamba Legal, the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and other LGBTQIA+ organizations.

In roughly chronological order with newest at the top

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Technically not a lawsuit but a good sign state levels suits are coming against hospitals who suspended care and gives cover for those who havent.

Trump administration sued over order banning transgender healthcare for minors

Trans woman in prison sues over Trump's anti-trans "sex" definition order

There are several, at least two lawsuits | saw regarding the military ban.

WHAT CAN WE DO INDIVIDUALLY

_"How this story comes out does depend to a great degree on what we do right now"_Shannon Minter, transgender Legal Director at the National Center for Lesbian Rights. February 4, 2025.

When congress attempts to pass laws that mirror the EOs, we should be prepared to flood House Reps and Senators with emails or calls. Only 2 dems (from Texas) in the house voted for H.R. 29, the sports ban, so we have a solid chance at filibustering anti-trans bills in the senate if keep the pressure on.

Please consider building a personal resistance network of friends and family to alert to key call-to-action moments. Here is an article with a great approach for how to do it. It worked great for me and | was able to recruit 13 people. If we all do this, with however many people we can, what a massive force multiplier - we can win this!!!

Erin the Morning shared a rules document about passports that got leaked.

Erin also provided this summary -

  • X markers will be a focal point

  • Existing unexpired passports will remain good

  • No guidance on confiscation, but it doesnt seem like they will

  • Renewals less clear but it looks like they will use “a preponderance of evidence”

Snippets below from Erin in the Morning article.

_In an announcement on Wednesday, Corewell Health, the largest healthcare provider in Michigan, stated that it would resume gender-affirming care for transgender youth under the age of 19.

.....

Local LGBTQ+ organizations in Michigan were outspoken against Corewell Health's decision to pause care, including Equality Michigan.

.....

The group is now praising the hospital system for reversing its decision.

.....

Erin In The Morning has received unconfirmed reports that other hospital systems are also considering reopening gender-affirming care.

.....

Meanwhile, multiple lawsuits challenging the executive order that triggered the bans are moving forward, with the first hearing scheduled for tomorrow.

.....

A swift injunction could pave the way for hospitals to resume care—though some may still require public pressure to act.

.....

Until then, the lives of transgender youth remain in limbo, caught between political maneuvering and the urgent need for medical care._
