Next to nothing? Let's see:

  • Wasn't/isn't there a civil war/coup that broke out like 2-3 years ago?
  • 15 years ago there were problems with radical Buddhist groups going after Muslims.
  • ...
  • Age of empires 2 gave them Arambai as their unique unit, I think their unique techs were something forgettable with elephants and Manipur Cavalry, which increased attack boni of cavalry against buildings
  • In EU4, that area is divided between Ava, it's Tributaries, and Pegu. I think modern Myanmar sees itself as the successor of one Ava tributary, that broke of and conquered/united the region. ~~Was in Hsinpaw?~~ (I was thinking of Taungu)

There is some aspect of Japanese culture I can really do without in my games, like everyone being either a high school student, just getting 18, or 60+. Especially when they then get into relationships.

Then again, I can't really say if that would sell. I'm certainly not deep enough into anime culture to gauge interest there.

"If you can't ride it without the assistance of an electric motor, please keep it out of the park and off the trails"

That's all there is to say.

Does it count if I only read summaries of both works, not the works itself?

"A true story" is a parody on the "travelogue" that were popular in ancient Greece, like Homer's Odyssey and Illiad. 800 years later, they had a resurgence in the Roman Empire, like when Virgil wrote the Aeneid. Still 200 years later, A True Story was written by Lucian.

In the preface, Lucian complains that the genre was ruined by authors making up unbelievable tales to trick their dumb readership. So he thinks it better to just admit that all he says is a lie.

The story goes on how Lucian then set sail across the Atlantic, got caught in a storm so terrible it blew him to outer space, and meet the all-male civilisation that lives on the moon, who carry their children through the calf of their leg.

Lucian and his crew return to Earth, get swallowed by a whale, explore the Islands of the blessed, see the Sinners being punished (the ones who lied in their stories being punished the hardest) and reach a distant continent. Lucian says what happened there will be shared in the sequel, which a comment describes as the biggest lie of all.

I cannot respect people who call Pluto a planet on internet forums whenever this topic comes up. Not because I agree with NASA, think their definition is perfect, or think those people just cling to nostalgia and hate change, no.

I cannot respect them because Pluto does not care and trying to white knight perceived attacks against it will not impress it, those people are just being pathetic.

"Big small", was that one rapper, right? Didn't know he pushed minimalism on us, then again, he did sing "mo money mo problems".

Humans are just very bad at understanding probability. Having seen a 1/4 fail 10 times does not change the probability for the next roll.

I just don't respect botanical definitions any more. Who cares what they think berries, fruits, grain and nuts should be? They can't even define a tree! If anyone gets to define these terms for every English speaker, it sure isn't going to be them.

Culinary definitions all the way! Unfortunately, they have no satisfying category for rhubarb either.

Fun fact: Caulrophobia (fear of clowns) is way more common than arachnophobia (according to a quick glance at wikipedia), if we ignore how serious a reaction usually is in deciding what to cw, we better be ready to hide all Balatro screenshots.

Despite the name and status as a pest (they are literally European scarabs), I feel nostalgic whenever I see one. Farmers ruthlessly fought them, so there hasn't been a swarming event here in at least 20 years.

Nice try IRS, but you already know what I do: Unemployed, I only deliver newspapers to keep a day rhythm.

Per month 450€ for paper delivery, 600€ from the state (mostly rent assistance).

Lived half a year from my savings without any assistance and learned to cut back at everything unnecessary. Now I get more money and don't need to pay into healthcare. Feels weird to be able to splurge again. Nothing contributes to my pension fund at the moment, but nobody believes in pensions here anyway.

No fireflies where I live, but that doesn't mean my childhood was free of a beautiful insect swarm.

My area had a bad outbreak of cockchafers I got to enjoy.

I needed a physical kitchen scale. Went to the 2nd hand shop. This was the only scale.

I bought it on the spot. Hell yeah.

My OpinionI've been a bit confused why I see videos with that gesture censored, I feel like that rarely happened in the media I consumed a decade ago. However, I believe this "phenomenon" is older than TikTok and its weird censorship.

I'd place giving the finger at a high 2, low 3 on offensiveness, definitely nowhere near gesticulated sexual acts. You can give a child shit for using it, but the occasional finger is something I'd expect from even a teenager.

I get that they and all their up-voters might have valid reasons for needing a one. But at this point I'm not sure if they can even imagine buying anything other than a truck.

Wishing upon the stars that the oversized cars may still be oversized, but a tick smaller. And that last one just needs a Van.

Thought about comparing different modes of transport, but realized it would be way too subjective. For example, if 5 km are in biking range is dependent on biking infrastructure, available public transport, how in shape you are...

But then I realized I can just simplify all these things away to get the optimal transportation flowchart. Simple is always better, right?
