Unfortunately, research on prisoners and concentration camp victims did produce new valuable medical information.

Most of the field of gynecology is based on experiments done on women slaves, where the "doctors" decided their victims conveniently didn't have nerve endings.

Ethics throttles research.

But I am aghast at the thought that we should permit unethical research in the pursuit of, at the end of the day, greed.

And I say this as a professional scientist.

I can't believe this conversation is even necessary.

"Why do Unions have to be considered Left?"

Tell me you have no idea about the history of labor rights without telling me...

The median zoomer can probably talk about it far more accurately than the median gen x-er or boomer

Ok. Before you get mad. Do you think you are a normal representative of your age group?

If you walk into a room of people you don't know but who are all likely born within +/-5yrs of you, would you expect to be able to talk about crypto with any sophistication and at least half would be able to follow?

If not, then the generalization is true even if it doesn't apply to you specifically.

The litterbox thing is so outrageous that it gives their tyrannical proposals the vineer of addressing a real problem.

But the litterbox story was fabricated, and the only grain of truth of it is that some classrooms did keep kitty litter as a mitigation against being trapped by an active shooter - another conservative-created problem.

They will continue to glom onto outrageous stories, to justify their outrageously oppressive proposals.

I've seen my coworkers take paternity leave, which I think is like 8 weeks where I work.

Generally, they've staggered it with their spouse so that one parent is working and the other on child care, rather than both being out over the same window. Typically the Dad's have taken their leave a couple months after the baby is born when Mom is returning to work. It keeps the baby out of daycare for as long as possible.

I've literally overheard multiple dinner party conversations about good finds from trader joes

I feel like today is my first day but I made a serious attempt to move here when that happened. I just couldn't get the apps to work on my android -- I kept having to make new accounts when the one I'd set up would suddenly no longer log in.

But today things seem to be working beautifully!

Ohhhh thank goodness.

Ok, then it's just algorithm weirdness that I was shown the lower-voted post first. Phew!!

I feel like these scientists need to keep their mouths shut.

If the Trump admin finds out about this, the next executive order will be something that requires CFCs to be put back into American appliances and aerosols because he hates any accomplishment academics have ever had.
