Our swearing system in modern English revolves around sex, violence and infidelity, but our society is also kinda into those things. Societies are complicated.

Edit: also sometimes people still say shit about bottoms when they curse.

Since studying machine learning I've become a lot less opposed to AI as a concept and specifically opposed to corporate/cloud LLMs.

Like a simple on-device model that helps turn speech to text isn't something to be opposed, it's great for privacy and accessibility. Same for the models used by hospitals for assistive analysis of medical imaging, or to remove background noise from voice calls.

People don't seem to think of that as 'AI' anymore though, it's like these big corporations have colonized the term for their buggy wasteful products. Maybe we need new terminology.

Thank you for that, seriously.

Your external pressure helps encourage more people to rise up. I've seen a ton of Canadian flags at the 50501 protests. We stand in solidarity against this madness.

This is AI, and it's gonna get deserved hate for that, but I do think this is better than some of the other posts that have been flooding Lemmy lately.

  • It's correctly labelled AI
  • The image is poignant and integral to the message; it's not just text with unnecessary otters or something
  • Visually it has a nice symmetry, and there's nothing obviously wrong with how it's drawn (other than it looks like AI)

The only thing it's missing is a good alt text description.

The glass is also weirdly large considering it looks like it should be at roughly the same distance as the people.

Well it relied on trump being in power to take effect. Having a useful idiot in the executive opens a lot of doors. I don't see how the Republicans could seize power without him, Vance wasn't ever going to win on his own.

Yes and yes. It's pretty good imo, my favorite milkshake flavor. They were super popular in the 1920s.

You could put your feet in your kneepits, but I'm not sure how warm they are.

The guy got a milkshake for his wife and she was grateful, then they both got sarcastic because that's how they do.

If it would keep trump out of office for another four years it would make the odds of him ever regaining power vanishingly small; he'd be in his mid eighties in the next election, and all the lawsuits against him wouldn't have been thrown out.

Say what you will about Biden, but he was pretty effective at pausing the slide into fascism. He strengthened ties with our allies and invested in infrastructure. If Harris had won we could have taken back the Supreme Court and actually started reversing course.

We sort of did have a 'stop fascism' button, but it was labelled Kamala Harris and a lot of people just weren't really feeling like voting I guess.
