It doesn't seem like the main developer has said anything yet, though, that's why I didn't include it in my list. But hey, it's open source, so I'm sure someone will contribute a pull request if it doesn't happen officially!

"are considering" might have been better wording, as the Sync developer hasn't decided yet. For RedReader it's pretty much guranteed to happen eventually as the app is open source.

Additionally, there is a Reddit to Lemmy API translation layer which could accelerate this.

I'm considering migrating when that happens, as then I have no need for Mastodon, I can just have everything on one site...

Yes, but it's only because it looks cool AFAIK, lemmy.ml is hosted in France

On iOS there is mlem, on Android there is Jerboa, which is still a bit janky, and the devs of some popular Reddit apps have also said they are willing to port theirs to Lemmy.

Hah, just came here to suggest an improvement, but the script has already transformed completely while I was gone :D

Okay, I'll explain in more detail:

  1. Click this link https://www.google.com/search?q=YOUR+SEARCH+HERE+site%3Areddit.com%2Fr%2Fmenopause and replace YOUR SEARCH HERE with whatever you want to search for, or just remove it to see all posts
  2. Click on one of the results, you'll see "r/Menopause is a private community"
  3. Copy all of the text in your browser address bar
  4. Go to https://web.archive.org and paste the text you just copied
  5. Before pressing enter, replace the "www.reddit.com" at the beginning with "old.reddit.com"
  6. Press enter, a calendar will pop up, click on any of the listed dates and you'll see the post

I don't really understand the problem here. Do these routers each have their own internet connection? Why can't you just attach whatever device you are using to host stuff to one of them, configure your router for port forwarding, and be done? To get a domain name for free, you can use https://www.noip.com/.

If that mysteriously doesn't work, you might want to investigate if your internet provider uses CGNAT (mine does). In that case, you might be able to contact them so they'll turn it off for you. I don't know about Germany, but in Austria they have to comply with your request, by law.

If you can't do that or don't want to expose your device to the internet directly, you have other options depending on whether you want your stuff to be public or not. For private services setting up WireGuard using wg-quick (on your Hetzner server) is really easy, reliable, and very secure. For public stuff, you might want to look at one of the services listed here. I recommend Cloudflare Tunnel, though it's only meant for web stuff, no gameservers etc.

Feel free to ask for more help if you need more details.

This is less than optimal, but I guess for now you can use https://web.archive.org/, it has most of the Reddit posts archived, and to find them you can just append site:reddit.com/r/menopause to google searches to find posts. If the comments don't appear, you need to replace reddit.com with old.reddit.com when pasting the URL into the Web Archive.

I think Kbin is interesting because it seems to bring these two kinds of media together.

I've had great fun working through Crafting Interpreters (in Haskell and Zig, which were both new to me), and discovering a lot of new music (underscores, ethel cain, xiu xiu and more). Other than that, life's been rough, but I'm lucky to have quite a bit of free time recently at least.
