I feel like it's true for me, so far. There's less content, but that doesn't seem like a bad thing. You can easily keep track of all the big posts.

I hope it is too. I heard there was a donation link somewhere, but the Lemmy dev team apparently have some questionable political views. Do with that what you will.

I've been a lurker on reddit for the most part and it seems easier to talk on Lemmy. I guess because it's a smaller community, or because your instance feels a little more private.

I have a jellyfin server for myself and a few friends that's available externally. Haven't been swatted yet. Just don't hand out login info to randoms on the internet, and you'll probably be fine.
