sufficient time has passed for takes on this subject to actually be informed by more than snap judgements, ideological impulses, and ill-advised guesstimates. also, virtually all votes have now been counted. if you'd like to post about your theories of what went wrong and why, you should now have the data to argue it without things just being a total clusterfuck. thank you for your compliance

“They want us to spend money, and for what? For no message, no organization, no forward thinking. … The thing that’s clear to a lot of us is that the party never really learned its lesson in 2016. They worked off the same playbook and the same ineffective strategies and to what end?”

You lose the senior vote as the GOP, you're fucked.

Yes, we've another two years, and it's becoming more clear this is why they're speedrunning.

But this is ... I don't know if self-immolation or Ouroboros is more apt.

I look forward to this every week. It always surfaces context I didn't have while reassuring me things are just as bad as they seem.

A Republican group is hoping to rally support to change the Constitution to allow President Donald Trump to seek a third term.

The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution was ratified in 1951 following the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was elected to four terms between 1933 and 1945. The two-term limit for presidents was introduced by Congress to prevent potential abuses of power.

This is a piece of mine from 17 years ago. If you didn't see this coming, I really don't know what to say. Blame ErsatzCoalButter for me going through the archives.

It's one of those things that aged really well.
