Hey friends! Back in middle school I was OBSESSED with this Egypt resource management game called Virtual History Ancient Egypt, but it has since vanished from the internet. Does anyone perhaps have a version of that runs or know where I can get one? I have the technical skills to hack a virtual machine together if needed.

IDK about other clients but Tesseract and Mlem (at least on the 2.0 beta) both embed loops videos so they play the same as any other video

Yeah I find watching baseball (professional or otherwise) in person to be wayyyy more fun than on the tv. That being said the recent addition of the pitch clock does make things go much faster even on the tv imo

Fair fair. Do you feel the same way about baseball?

Do you personally dislike all sports or just football?

The city I work in prohibits the selling or giving away of city property so we aren’t allowed to sell them (and truly most of the time they are so old and crusty and yucky that no one would pay any amount of money for them), but if the quality of books is super high we sneakily donate them to More Than Words. That being said we do hold book sales stocked by donations from patrons and the proceeds go into our programming budget.

Hahaha that is hilarious!!

Probably the time I had a book come back with the pages taped back together in a completely random order. Created a wild ride of a story lol

Depends on the library and the type of book. Typical time frames are 10 years, 7 years, 5 years, or 2 years. For example I work in an busy urban library in the children’s room and we were running out of space in our fiction novel section so we did a 5 year then a 2 year when the first one didn’t make enough space. Our biography section grows less quickly so we do 7 year weeds.

It does! We gotta clear space on the shelves sometimes for new books :)

(Please note we are throwing away old books that no one is checking out or books that are too damaged to circulate) Edit: fixed typo

It is a blanket lol but it’s just throw size.

I had never considered printing on a shower curtain!! That’s hilarious and I will definitely be stealing that gift idea so thank you!

I’ve always ment for it to be helpful, but I can see it being read rude or passive aggressive. Thank you in advance for your time and your thoughts!

4 years ago I was a Pennsylvania resident and registered voter. I have since moved to another state and have switched my voter registration. I had assumed changing my registration would be sufficient however, I am on some list of PA voters bc I get A LOT (oh my god it’s so much) of political texts and calls. It’s too late for this election and perhaps it won’t be so bad next time, and I wish they weren’t wasting their time and that my inbox weren’t so full.

The T can be… well the way the T is, but today I had such a nice interaction with one of the bus drivers! I was running late on my daily commute and was a full block away from the bus stop when I saw the bus approaching. There was no chance I was making it, even at a full out sprint, so I was accepting my fate of having to take my alternate route as the bus drove by, but the driver honked to ask if I was getting on! He recognized me and let me board at not even a little bit the bus stop! I am so touched and can’t stop smiling at the driver’s kindness.
