Although the term "zero-day" initially referred to the time since the vendor had become aware of the vulnerability […]

Yes, this is the original definition that made sense. It doesn’t make sense to me that this definition apparently has been adjusted to include all unpatched vulnerabilities.

It somewhat annoys me that a eight year old bug is referred to as „zero day vulnerability“.

I'm currently comparing Authentik and Authelia. For me, Authentik was extremely easy to get into. Authelia with its text-based configuration is clearly not as easy for beginners.

Encarta cost $395 upon release

I don't know the software prices of the 1990s, but this seems absurdly expensive.

I've started to setup Authentik this weekend. My goal is to learn more about SSO and have one account for most of my selfhosted services.

What annoys me is that this multi billion dollar company is apprently unable/unwilling to keep even very obvious scams from their platform.

One "scam" I see from time to time is to have cheap items with clearly overpriced shipping cost. Amazon, why don't you block sellers who try to trick your customers?

Thanks, I hate it. Maybe we could just measure shoe size in centimeters, not in different units that mean different things on each site of the border - and even for men and women.

But still, unironically, thank you.

US Shoe size 15 is UK 13 and EU 48.

Perfect video, this shows all the gimmics that I loved. This cube felt so natural and easy to use, I really liked it.

I don't think this is a very strong reason. Anyone can create a new lemmy server and use "your" username. But the post/comment history would be an easy proof who is the "real" user.

This incident will be reported.

Die Wechselrate betrug 4,7 Prozent.

Nichtmal jeder 20. Strom- und Gaskunde in Österreich hat letztes Jahr den Tarif gewechselt. Ich weiß nicht, wie die Zahlen in anderen Ländern sind, aber bitte prüft eure Verträge und wechselt alle paar Jahre.

Looking back over the past decade, it's fascinating to see how much technology has evolved.

In 2015, the Volkswagen e-Golf was one of the top EVs available, offering optional fast charging and a range of just 125 km.

Did anyone here drive an EV 10 years ago? What was your experience like?

How on earth can you both not accept the password I copied from my password safe and tell me that I cannot use the same pasaword again?

And ivanti released CVE-2025-0282, just one week into the new year.

Edit: Source for the stats is cvedetails.com

Microsoft deprecated their VR framework (WMD), and therefore many VR headsets compatible with this standard are now effectively broken.

Luckily, the open source community has started reverse engineering the hardware and is now able to support most of these headsets through a project called Monado. Monado runs exclusively on linux at the moment.

Does anyone here have some experience with Monado? Is it worth getting a cheap VR headset and give it a try? I heard that it is still not very stable, but there isn't much information available.

Looking at you, Volkswagen. Don't store billions of records in an AWS bucket that can be breached.

Some of these vulnerabilities look more like backdoors

Fortinet, Palo, Checkpoint, Cisco, Sonicwall ... is there any big firewall vendor that didn't have any critical vulnerabilities last year?

Prompt: three children, dressed in halloween costumes, walk along a hill. they're completely black, as a viewer we only see their silhouette against a vivid, redish and purple autumn sky.

Hello fellow Linux gamers,

Is there a way to pause or suspend games and turn off the PC similar to how the Steam Deck handles it? Or is this functionality exclusive to the Steam Deck?

I'm using Arch btw, but feel free to share solutions for other distros as well.

I came across Nyrna, but it seems to only support X11 and not Wayland, according to the description.
