I'm looking to get into that as well. Right now the forest is growing enough for me but as soon as season ends I will start :)

Looking forward to your progress updates!

I totally get that, it's the same form me! Before I started being interested in and actually looking for these boletes, I had no idea. These depictions of big brown mushrooms growing between moss somewhere in the woods were always more of a fantasy thing for me.

Haha I can too, if you look closely you can see I broke off a piece in order to identify it. Tastes horrible!

No, I think that would be the scarletina bolete.

see here

Although I am not sure, I didn't cut it and it's the first one I saw.

Beautiful 💘

Take a look at some pictures online, this one is already quite old and not as spectacular anymore. Also they hatch out of eggs for some extra creepyness.

Haha true, it's actually edible apparently. But you are supposed to wash of the brown stuff that looks and smells like zombie diarrhea.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

Yeah no for sure, if I were to try an eat it I would look at it in much greater detail. But it was so cute and I never saw one before, I didn't even think about it.

Often yes, but they can also be more pale/orange. Still I'm not sure because I saw no other muscarias today

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Might also taste like nothing much but still make you vomit. I do wonder what it feels like when you'd eat it though..

Haha I totally get that. It's fine really, you need to ingest some part of all mushrooms that I know of, at least here where I am, to actually get poisoned. Still, it's probably a good idea to be somewhat aware of what you do with your hands afterwards. But that's just general good advice when touching stuff you don't know about I guess ;)
