Disney should focus on making good original content again instead of rebooting everything a second and third time.

Just reading it is already profitting from the written work. The author should have the freedom to decide whether they want monetary compensation for that or not. Isn't this a free world? You should respect it when people decide to publish IP under permissive licenses. It's their work. They can decide. Everyone who is against this and for piracy needs to have their moral compass checked by looking in the mirror. This is a free world, if you like it or not.

The entire open-source scene grew out of that exact system before LLMs even existed. What are you talking about?

Also, just because somebody has the right to make their code open-source doesn't mean that everyone should be forced to do the same. If you decide to make a living by writing books under a permissive license you should be able to do that. This is a free world. Nobody is forcing open-source developers to make the code proprietary. But people like you feel to be in the moral right to force the opposite to others.

Why, so you can profit from it?

Why do you ask this question here? Do you actually want to know?

Did it work?

He means it as a placeholder for whoever the previous commenter identifies himself as. It's a response to him addressing vegetarians but not specifying what we should call him.

I use Signal for private and personal messages. I use Discord solely for gaming and voicechat. A good alternative doesn't need to be overly private (although that would be a bonus of course). It just needs to have a good UI and feature parity with Discord.

Well first thing my mom asked me was where she can run Office. Second thing she asked was how she can go back to Windows as it has Office already installed.

I tried Ubuntu, Pop, Mint, Xubuntu. They all have problems. Most of these problems like software or driver support are probably not their fault. But they are problems nontheless. I cannot recommend Linux as a daily driver for non-techsavy users.

It's awesome for software devs, sys admins, tinkerers. But that's it. Most distros still have too many issues for me to recommend it to every Windows user.

Librewolf is already listed. There are unfortunately no good alternatives to Windows and ChatGPT or Gemini.

I have no idea how that happened or when it happened. Now every single album in my music collection has this background image of a random headphone and this "Various Artists" microphone picture on top.

How do I get rid of this?

Genuine question.

There are tons of niche subs on Reddit that aren't on Lemmy or don't have enough people posting. Lemmy could benefit from bots that automatically post Reddit content. Why is this not a thing?

With all that negativity being posted, I think this isn't said enough: Been getting into Ukrainian rap recently, specifically Alina Pash and Krechet. I don't understand a single word (I'm German) but I noticed how pleasing the language and music sounds. Just came here to say that.

If you have more music recommendations please share :)
