I have it behind a proxy and IPS. I force my users to have strong passwords. I don't see why this would be a problem.

Buying back shares is Alphabet judging their own stock to be undervalued. Nobody knows whether that prediction is going to be correct or not. The "little guy" either does not care about this or joins the gamble.
