Why not subscribe to both? This isn't a novel problem, why come up with a novel solution?
Agreed. It's working, but the bugs and problems are pretty noticeable. The comments from the last thread viewed are always visible for about 2 seconds when I click on a new thread, and I can't scroll down on my settings page, so I'm a bit limited on customization.
Embedded media in comments was a pleasant surprise though
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Did you mean that child comments are not federated?
I'll admit that I've noticed this problem as well. I'm hopeful that it's just because the communities are relatively small compared to what we're seeing on the main page, or perhaps it's a prioritization issue that just needs to be solved
