Does anyone know a good screenshot tool for wayland?

Very good points here already. So I just provide an example:

They are planning to build a parking garage in the middle of my town (17000 people). The promisse is, that they will remove parking spots in many streets around the center, as the parking garage would easily compensate for them.

I see the positive aspects, less cars parking on the roads and more parking space overall.

For me the negative aspects outweight the positive here:

  • More parking spaces invite more people to take the car into the city. The sourrounding streets have less parked cars but will be much more used by cars in motion. The space we 'won' would be gone again.
  • the parking garage is very ugly, in the middle of an otherwise nice city center. It takes away the space of projects that would attract more tourists.
  • The city wants to have reduced car traffic in the city, but the parking garage is a long term investment into more car traffic, that is not easily reversed in the next 20-30 years.
  • the induced car traffic leads to all the negative things we all know.. More noise, pollution, unsafe, expensive, unhealthy

I wish I knew why they prefer to drive. It is obvious, that they do, but the reason is hard to understand for me. Going by bike is faster, healthier, cheaper, helps reduce emissions of all sorts and sets you up for a happier mindset.

A seemingly absurd reason like "people think biking is for poor people" doesn't seem to be so absurd after all, considering the enormous amount of people deciding to take the car instead of the bike. It at least has to be one of the reasons, it's just a matter of probability.

I bought a used Synology before knowing more about NAS alternatives. I hated every minute with it.. Because it was a bit older, security updates could stop anytime. And using the proprietary OS felt even more unsave. Who knows what backdoors are build in there? I sold it after I found out that there is no way to install a custom OS or any alternative to the proprietary version.

Edit: found a picture of it:

My father printed the GNU license 100 times, rolled it up and gave me a good beating with it. The only true way to learn about the four freedoms.

I can only assume, that these downvotes are meant as a not so smart joke.

What is the name of the client software on the pi? How did you connect your pi to an amplifier?

And I have no intention of living off the technological grid to mitigate that.

I would argue that you are already living off the technology grid. Before starting my FOSS journey, every software I used was a dull 'Just click here and let the algorithm do it's job'. By beeing conscious about the software I am using now, I accidently found a lot of joy in technical things, feeling a lot more 'on' the technological grid than before.

Can you elaborate on what doomsday scenario you're referring to?

I am not the commenter above, but my greatest fear with all those data hungry companies is the control and power we give to not elected entities. Knowing all about every person in a state and knowing how to use this data for targeted ads, targeted video recommendations, targeted search results,..., could make a difference in elections and law making. It is basically undermining democracy, and I am a big fan of real democracy.

I think org-roam in emacs is the same? I now never work on something without copying everything into an org-file and commenting it. And I am so happy when I want to do something I have done before and just be able to follow along my own notes.
