Was really exciting seeing ferrari move up through the field towards the top 3. If that safety car hadn't been called, ferrari could've gone for soft tires and put pressure to get both drivers on the podium

Hopefully ferrari improves on this and keeps the momentum going

Definitely this one. Simple design and the fine point is so smooth to write with

You can reinstall a driver without ever touching the command line on windows.

Can you do that with Linux? Idk maybe on some distros but the default would just be to uninstall the package from terminal.

Pretending these are equivalent is not cool and it just drives new users away for not understanding things the community takes for granted. It takes effort to learn the terminal if even tech-savvy windows users may not even use the command line

Personally I believe that unless you're able to do a slackware or gentoo installation, you're not ready for Linux.

/s but only kinda

Linux users need to have a higher level of technical literacy than windows users. It just can't be avoided unless you're okay with potentially reinstalling your os at some point. The bar has been lowered a lot, but because other companies refuse to play nice with Linux, it'll always be there.

If you're okay with that tradeoff, then yeah Linux is great. But a lot of people aren't even aware of it and it causes a lot of pain

I mean, does it really matter?

Even if the Democrats are blaming Trump for the shutdown, what do you think would be Trump's next move after Congress refuses to fund the government?

I'm glad someone is saying this.

While I understand people don't want to give Trump any wins, choosing the shut the government down is the wrong hill to die on. Given the chaos that DOGE has caused, and the executive branch throwing around their power completely unchecked, shutting down the government would plunge america into chaos.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Trump had a plan to frame the government shutdown as "government inefficiency" and use it to grab much more executive power.

I have found AI to be a terrible primary source. But something I've found very useful is to ask for a detailed response, structured a certain way. Then tell the AI to grade it as a professor would. It actually does a very good job at acknowledging gaps and giving an honest grade then.

AI shouldn't be a primary source but it's great for starting a topic. Similar to talking to someone that's moderately in the know on something you interested in

This is absolutely absurd. People have a right to a lawful assembly.

Anyone supporting this guy is insane. Literally trying to become an emperor

Negotiations without security assurances*

This is the prime stickler with the USA-Ukraine deal that has been discussed on the news

Hello everyone!

I'm looking for ideas for a non-processed meat that goes well with breakfast. In the past, I had bacon, eggs, and maybe some oats or a salad. I cut the traditional bacon, and now have either beans or turkey bacon as my "breakfast meat". But, turkey bacon is still really high in sodium (and is a processed meat) and beans just don't satisfy that meat craving sometimes. And substituting a different meat has been kinda hard; chicken breast, while unprocessed, just doesn't go well with breakfast.

So, I just wanted to know what other people do for breakfast, if they struggle with this dilemna, and any feedback the community has.

Thanks!

This question was inspired by a post on lemmy.zip about lowering the minimum age to purchase firearms in the US, and a lot of commeters brought up military service and training as a benchmark to normal civilians, and how if guns would be prevalent, then firearm training should be more common.

For reference, I live in the USA, where the minimum age to join the military is 18, but joining is, for the most part, optional. I also know some friends that have gone through the military, mostly for college benefits, and it has really messed them up. However, I have also met some friends from south korea, where I understand military service is mandatory before starting a more normal career. From what I've heard, military service was treated more as a trade school, because they were never deployed, in comparison to American troops.

I just wanted to know what the broader Lemmy community thought about mandatory military service is, especially from viewpoints outside the US.

If Kamala and trump both tie the electoral college, which it is looking like a possibility, a new president would be chosen by the new Congress on Jan 6th. Scary to think about

Hello everyone! I wanted to start meal prepping this month for lunch. I'm trying to cut down on my sodium, and I found my deli sandwiches are a big source of that. This weekend I'll be trying to make a sandwich from shredded chicken. At the moment I'll be using this recipe: https://livesimply.me/prep-day-how-to-make-easy-crock-pot-shredded-chicken-using-a-whole-chicken/

If anyone has any meal prep ideas for lunch, please share! I am tired of cooking everyday, I want thr convenience of a quick microwave meal without all the salt and extra stuff.
