During a period with seemingly very little good news in the world, I really needed this. Assuming it was done for the optics it conveys, it's some much needed reassurance that our allies actually have our back. Granted, we're still absolutely fucked in the short term if the worst happens, it's still nice to see.

A developer wanted to build a facility to capture carbon. Locals saw an environmental menace.
I have a cool idea for a facility to capture carbon in a non-menacing way. What we do is get a big chunk of land and plant a bunch of trees on it, then - oh, shit, I just invented a forest.
I mostly listen to death-doom rather than strict death metal, but there's a fair bit of that out there. My two faves in the genre:
Draconian has clean female vocals alongside growled male.
Swallow the Sun has a wide range of vocal styles, but getting increasingly cleaner pretty much every album (along with clean female vocals on a lot of tracks).
Again, this is death-doom so a lot of the stuff will be a little slower-tempo than straight death.
Except it's actually the best of both worlds for the rich - as far as I know, a lot of these companies are publicly traded AND receive public funding.

That makes sense. I also totally get you on the last point. As soon as I manage to own a house, the yard is getting planted with local flora, fruit bushes, and a vegetable garden.
I think for some people it's like a form of meditation, especially for those with a big lawn and a riding mower. I don't personally get it, but that's the vibe these guys give off.
I would legitimately love to see this. Sounds like a bit of a Forest Gump vibe, and your choice of Nicolas Cage feels perfect for this role.
I wish the article went into some detail about how the hell a 72-year-old fought in a war. I know people can be in good shape at that age, but I wouldn't think they'd be in voluntarily joining a war shape.
Also, how did he end up in the custody of Russia? Captured, or just strolled into Moscow one day with his big balls clanging at each step.

I suspect this is due to it having been a holiday across the country, so people figured they had nothing better to do. Either way, it's nice to see.
I'm in a city of about 10K and this was the first time in about the 12 years I've been here where I had to actually wait in a proper line. It probably took about 20-30 minutes whereas I'd normally be through in about 5.
