Exactly. And your inaction during the ongoing issues in your country aligns you with our common ancestors who did nothing way back when; so when's the guillotine coming out?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (18 children)

"as well".

You're still deflecting. The current treatment of aboriginals is wholly down to your country. I ask again, why haven't you got your guillotine out yet?

As a British citizen I feel as though the marches here are unrelated and we're just fed up of ol' sausage fingers and the rest of the peado brigade at Buckingham.

::: spoiler /s ofc. We stand with the Americans looking to fight fascism; WW3 affects all of us. :::

Well yeah, it's an easy cop out to blame a country the other side of the world for your fellow countryman's treatment of aboriginals.

Introspection is hard; but deflecting the blame will do nothing to resolve the issue.

Edit: Australia gained Responsible government (IE: making their own rules independent of the UK; though subject to higher laws like taxes etc) between 1855-1890... with full autonomy granted in the 1930s.

So you lot have had around 100 years; and the treatment hasn't budged... Let me guess; still not the Aussies fault eh?

Yeah I think you're right. This will be the main drive behind adoption; even as an enthusiast I was sceptical to try a Linux phone; but google's predatory policies ultimately forced my hand; it's only a matter of time before more end up feeling like they have no choice.

Android isn't the bastion of open source freedom it once was. We need a new (or GNU heheh) approach.

You don't need to look that far back in all honesty. The Australian treatment of aboriginals has been abhorrent; and continues to this day.

Time to get your guillotine out.

A better tactic would be to threaten free delivery of a cyberstuck for every person that doesn't vote the way he wants.

Why are you comparing a book about wizards and magic to mein kampf?

We're discussing the authors, not the books.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

Not quite. I'm comparing an author that oppressed people to an author that is oppressing people.

The contents of the books never came up in my comment, but nice strawman nonetheless

As a counterpoint; do you think it's acceptable to fund oppression of any marginalised group?

I'm using an Ubuntu touch device as my main driver these days (currently on volla Quintus)

It's good, but it's not there yet in terms of ease of use. If you're not a Linux enthusiast, you will likely have a bad time on UT (can't comment on sailfish, though I'd imagine it suffers in a similar way).

The largest problem is app support... By a mile. Most apps I use are just web apps I've had to manually setup. You can emulate an android and boot into it with waydroid, which will allow you to install apks; But honestly that feels like a cop out... which is why I try to make use of web apps where I can. (It also destroys your battery life... As you're essentially running two phones).

Yeah good point; just like those compression vests you can get for cats and dogs that suffer with anxiety issues.

Tbf there were likely people saying the same thing about meine kampf when Jewish people were going missing.

I've never really been a HP fan, so it doesn't bother me. And as a straight white male, pride has fuck all to do with me... Buuuut I'm capable of seeing why trans communities would take issue with her inflammatory statements, and funding of discrimination against them.

Her latest venture is entirely funded by her, and aims to provide legal support for fighting against trans inclusion; Regardless of whether you agree with trans people, surely you can understand why they wouldn't want to fund that?
