American courts ARE a cartoon, and their role is Wile E. Coyote, whereas the Roadrunner is played by the 1%.

"Ooh, almost got him! Maybe next time."

They'd put us in their gas tanks too, if they could.

It actually is a classic fascist thing: it makes the target, Amazon in this case, culpable in maintaining the lie, which opens the door to bigger lies down the road.

AI images may may or may not be art, but it will never be YOUR art, any more than the art of artists I employ is my art. It just isn't.

However, I think any AI argument that doesn't mention capitalism as a factor is incapably reductive. As other commenters indicate, even very physically restricted individuals can and will create art.

Because they often have the means that many under capitalism do not: they often have time because they aren't under full time employment. They have extra mental energy, the "spoons".

Once again, the issue is ultimately a deflection from systemic issues that the upper class insist they aren't intentionally worsening 🫠

This meme is mfw this meme because I saw it as the message of Russian propaganda last week

HEADS UP. Public response just went out. Please help signal boost this by sharing a post for your followers or resharing 50501’s post on your preferred platform(s)—

We have reason to believe that events on 4/19 and/or the 50501 Movement may be misrepresented by the Trump Administration in an attempt to justify the use of military force.

Let us be clear: our movement is pro-democracy and firmly grounded in non-violence. We are not affiliated with any so-called “Day of Rage” or with any group or movement promoting violence.

April 19 is a Day of (Community) Action centered on mutual aid, community care, and civic engagement.

Any portrayal to the contrary is a deliberate distortion intended to undermine our message and suppress our broad, growing support.

We are aware of specific and credible threats involving aggressive policing, ICE presence, and even the potential deployment of military force against peaceful demonstrators—in Washington, D.C. and other locations on April 19.

For clarity: 50501 DC is hosting a peaceful community aid event in Franklin Park. We are not connected to any actions taking place at Lafayette Square, the Naval Observatory Building, or the Washington Monument. We cannot vouch for their safety of plan, and we are not affiliated with their protests.

Participants should be prepared for an increased law enforcement presence. In some locations, ICE agents may also be present. We urge everyone to stay grounded, remain peaceful, and prioritize de-escalation and safety for all.

Remember, de-escalation, mutual care, and disciplined non-violence are our greatest strengths.

We keep us safe.

so happy for liberals on the internet to finally have their own thought terminating cliche in "tankies", the jealousy for "woke" must have been overwhelming

insomuch as USAID was a tool for exerting soft power by lifting up global communities and spreading goodwill for America through humanitarian effort, I support what it was, I didn't want to see it gutted. insomuch as China is exerting soft power by building infrastructure and investing in industry, it'd be nice to see the US exert a little soft power against us citizens from time to time.

In practice they have been pretty hands off as they develop the global south afaik.

They're also only doing it for its resources, I think you could realistically assume, but it can't be denied that their approach has brought much better results than America's so far.

It's weird that nobody even considers systemic change as a possibility anymore

I mean obviously we'll need to hold another election before we can get somebody else in there and even see an opportunity, but if actual accountability were implemented that targets this, if citizens united would stop leaking billionaire influence into our groundwater, you COULD restore faith in America.

I guess the issue is, how possible is any kind of anti-oligarchism policy, when they hold the whole government? And once, IF, we get the chance, is there anyone with the competency to get it implemented? Or will we blow it like we have every time since the reconstruction?
