Even the modern GPUs we have now can function at a basic level with generic drivers, and motherboard-mounted chipsets typically handle things like PCI, storage, and other I/O. Those chipsets also support multiple CPUs, sometimes even multiple generations.

This hasn't been the case in 20 years now.

ARM systems are typically manufactured with everything (CPU, GPU, RAM, modem, I/O controllers, etc) on the same die.

This has no bearing on software support at all.

No, FlatPak is centralization in the worst possible way, whilst also making software less usable.

It's a terrible thing and it dies to die swiftly.

However, with Android devices, there are so many variants and drivers that a single installer couldn't possibly cover all of them.

Works fine on PC, where there are an order of magnitude more configurations.

I hope it does well, but I'm just not interested in strictly linear games anymore.

Maybe half of you shouldn't of stayed home to 'punish Kamala'?

People who didn't vote are just as guilty as those who voted for Trump.

I hope so, M1's aren't going to be supported forever by Apple :(

It won't. The switch it massively underclocked for battery life.

The nVidia shield tablet it's based on regularly pushes 2ghz CPU/1ghz GPU. That tablet doesn't have the cooling solution the Switch has either, it's just got a crappy elongated heatspreader like M1 macbooks.

Was, Asahi is practically dead at this point due to differences between the kernel devs and Hactor/Lina over Rust in the kernel.

€200 million per month for all European users data is likely well within 'cost of business' for Facebook...

old.lemmy.world has been very slow all day and is now 503'ing continuously, lemmy instance health doesn't seem to cover old.lemmy.world, only the main instance, which seems to be working fine.
