Yes, that's a great point that I hadn't considered.

To be clear for anyone, it's Oligarchs/Billionaires paired with rampant, unfettered corporate greed. (at least in my view)

💯

I had no idea this was showing up a couple months ago, and what a treat it is!

The end of that one Brother Ali song, I have no idea who the vocalist for that part is.

They keep sayin' we're free...

But we're all just loose.

Edited to add - To be clear for anyone, it's Oligarchs/Billionaires paired with rampant, unfettered corporate greed. (at least in my view)

Someone reminded me that I was using dogwhistle parlance in my use of they which may have suggested otherwise.

Here are some visual aids to accompany my clarification:

They have claimed that from the start and it's the standard conservative defense, but at no time has it appeared to be true.

You know I've had this feeling for a long time. But I really have it now.

Look at everything going on, everything he's doing. If AOC (arbitrary example, but he'll call any Democrat a "radical marxist" through the entire campaign no matter who it is) is elected in 2028, will he and his handlers go "well, at least it will take them a long time to unfuck things?" No, there's no way that happens.

Maybe we'll get an honest election and maybe we'll learn the results of it. I don't think he leaves in Jan 2029 without a fight no matter who wins, unless it's Vance, and maybe not even then.

And to be clear, there's no way the Dems will run AOC or anyone like her. We'll probably get someone even further right than Kamala or Biden since it seems to be Republican votes they actually want now.

I only have hope for 2028 actually resulting in Trump no longer being president if the cheeseburgers take him before then, or the 2026 midterms are not only a blue wave, but also entirely above board and free of shenanigans.

~~The damn image is AI I now see.~~

But here's the article.

Edit: OP image, ahem ethically modified with an image from the article linked above.

You've got a fair point there.

The ear was probably hit by a tiny fleck of glass from a shattered teleprompter, and then with Trump no doubt on blood thinners it would bleed like all

I'm pretty sure this is AI, but it's so damn perfect...

Yes, I have an attic. Through it runs my AC ducts which are insulated pretty poorly from what I can tell. And yes, additional insulation above the ceiling of the interior spaces. The attic itself is at deadly temperatures pretty much all summer long, because attic ventilation does not adequately clear the heat. This has been true of every house I've lived in since I was a kid. (Which is a lot of houses because I'm old)

It's difficult for me to imagine that permanently shading the roof and leaving an air gap above it would not improve things in addition to the presence of insulation and the attic itself, since it would lower temps in the attic. Regardless of the presence of insulation, reducing the delta between the attic temp and interior temp seems like it would be a win to me. My question, ultimately, is how much would a spaced layer above the roof impact this. To me, it feels like it would impact that delta a lot, but maybe not.

Sorry for being an idiot with the image. Fixed now! :)

Thank you, removing it now!

I have to admit I was really thinking of houses - it seems to me a small expense for such a potentially substantial improvement, especially if done at construction time.

(None of this is to disagree with the idea of using lighter/more reflective roofing materials, FWIW.)

Edit - and I don't mean a giant umbrella or similar, I feel like a typical home could easily just have a structure the size of the roof and spaced a few inches out from it.

The police officer who killed Indigenous teenager Kumanjayi Walker in 2019 was "racist" and had an "attraction" to adrenaline-style policing, a coroner's inquest has found.

Walker, 19, died shortly after he was shot three times at close range by Constable Zachary Rolfe during a home arrest in Yuendumu, a remote Indigenous community in the Northern Territory (NT).

Rolfe - no longer a policeman - was charged with Walker's murder and acquitted in 2022, sparking protests about Indigenous deaths in custody.

In delivering her findings, Judge Elisabeth Armitage said Walker's death was "avoidable" and there was "clear evidence of entrenched, systemic and structural racism" within NT's police force.
