I came here to say the same. It isn't bad but it doesn't mix up well with the rest...

I don't think that we are very few, I mean look at the upvotes...
It's just the market that is going the other direction and we just take it instead of spending a little bit of time looking for other solutions.

Yeah that would be nice, unluckily it's been discontinued and whenever I find one on the secondary market the price is prohibitive...

The first company that produces a phone with

  • removable battery
  • maximum 6in screen
  • 3.5mm jack
  • open bootloader

will break the market

Chrono Trigger: every aspect (graphics, gameplay, story, music, replayability...) has such level of polishness that it's still outstanding almost 30 years later.
No other JRPG has come even close and, as a Final Fantasy fan, that's hard to admit

Technically not the whole game, but (Smash Remix)[https://github.com/JSsixtyfour/smashremix] is an open source rom hack of the original Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64. It's been a blast from the past and I'm enjoying the hell out of it.
I also love the fact that a lot of N64 emulators are open source too, like Mupen64 or simple64
